Professional Experience:
. Inventherm LLC, R&D Design Engineer (Senior), Medical Device Design
January 2010-Present
- Developed prototype design of components such as piston, stator, valve
& valve seat and measurement fixtures for a Compressor product used in
a FDA regulated Respirator.
- Performed Kinematic and Dynamic analysis of an eccentric shaft based
vane and bushing mechanism to determine the contact forces and motion
path.
- Lead a team in conducting long term wear testing of coated compressor
components and polymer parts and analyzed the wear rate under varying
parameters. Used data acquisition devices (DAQ, Oscilloscope etc.)
- Participated in review of customer requirements with their design &
marketing teams. Established design solutions to meet product
requirements factoring in performance, cost and schedule.
- Conducted full scale compressor life tests at alternating conditions
and configurations to enhance the performance of the compressor unit
under peak operating conditions.
- Performed FEA of contact stresses between the bushing and bearing and
other mating components.
- Inspection of manufactured parts using metrology instruments like CMM
(Brown & Sharpe), Surface Profilometer (Mitutoyo) and measuring
Microscope (National).
- Interfaced with client engineering and production teams regarding
design changes and engineering change requests. Developed and reviewed
supplier quotes in order to obtain the best products.
- Reviewed project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy and
performed Tolerance Stackup analysis.
- Modified the product parts using various industrial hard and soft
coatings and PTFE based plastics.
- Produced manufacturing drawings &3D solid models of the compressor
components and reviewed drawings of proposed and released designs
for accuracy, material selection, finishes and GD&T.
