Employment
****- ****** ********, ****** **********, Baltimore, MD
I designed new products for a small textile manufacturing firm in
Baltimore, MD. In this role I consult with customers to understand
their design requirements, design products to exceed their
expectations, and aid in the manufacturing of those products in the
production facility. This experience afforded me the opportunity to
design products for the US military and numerous privately branded
companies from a variety of industries. As an Engineer with Avalon,
I use AutoCAD and MS Office products on a daily basis.
2006-2010- Designer, Engineering Supervisor, Project Engineer, and
Integrated Product Team Member, BAE Systems, Jessup, PA
I was responsible for the supervision and administration of a textile
engineering team consisting of 16 personnel. The team was comprised
of two designers, two drafters, nine technicians, and contractors.
Subsequent duties included managing the inventory of the lab supplies
(over $1 million of inventory) and maintaining a secure prototype
storage room. As a Project Engineer I briefed Program Managers, Sr.
Managers, and the business Vice President on program activities. My
project budgets were in the $200K-$500k range. My technical duties
included the creation of technical drawings, material research,
product testing, military product specification reviews, project
scheduling, project presentations, design reviews, bill of material
creation, budgetary oversight as a project engineer, and oversight of
prototype construction for my projects. I had the privilege of
working with our Quality and S.H.E. managers to ensure that we met our
ISO requirements as proven through successful audits. Additionally, I
worked with manufacturing teams to transition our products into
production.
Highlights: I worked on the design team for the US Army's Improved
Outer Tactical Vest, on a new product line for our division (over 30
new products for the Eclipse brand), co-authored the Advanced Design
Procedures Manual for our department, worked with Special Operation
Forces on sensitive projects, and wrote a training manual for a
production line in our facility. I also worked with the director and
two other designers to create the research and development lab, led
that same team through a transitional move within the facility, and
then led the team into a new, larger facility with expanded resources.
For over two years, I lead the development efforts on projects for
the Australian and Swedish militaries. As a Project Engineer I
developed a prototype product line of lightweight products for the US
Army. Recently I was assigned to an Integrated Product team. In this
role I participated in production meetings, contract reviews, and
tracked sub contractor production numbers for the team. Lastly, I
worked on BAE's Pilot US Army RESET Program for soldier equipment. In
this role I led a field inspection team, generated reports, tracked
shipment of products, and led the repair efforts of the equipment.
2005-2006 - Project Manager & Designer. The Ronco Group. Lake, Winola, PA
Drafting and design of numerous structural steel projects comprised of
sheet metal, square/round tubes, structural shapes (channels, angles,
and beams), and research of material needed to design and fabricate
products. I assembled paper core machinery ($1.5 Million machines)
assembly and sub assembly drawings for manufacturing of the machines
within our fabrication facility. This required collaboration with the
manufacturing staff and engineers to ensure that the drawings and
bills of materials were accurate to customer requirements. As a
Project Manager I managed project costs, drawings, bills of materials,
purchase requests, invoices, shipping, and arranged for the
fabrication and installation of structural steel products. Project
Management often required visits to job sites and interaction with
customers. My project budgets were in the $5k-$200K range.
2002-2004 - Assistant Pastor. West Overland Bible Church. St. Louis, MO.
I led the junior and senior high school ministries for the church.
This included teaching classes, directing programs, leading a
volunteer staff (20+ staff), and maintaining successful programs for
100 children. I served on the church board helping to make leadership
decisions for the church. Additionally, I lead the 120 member church
in the absence of the Senior Pastor. I was given responsibility over
church credit cards, vehicles, personal expense accounts, and
distributed benevolence funds as needed. I was often the teacher and
preacher in both small group and congregational settings.
2000-2002 - Drafter. PDS Solutions. Scranton, PA.
I created arrangement drawings and detail drawings of structural steel
components for power plant emission systems. While working at PDS I
learned how to work with various steel shapes, utilize proper weld
symbols, and how to create complex bill of materials for structural
steel detail and assembly drawings. Additionally, I worked with
unique drawing standards from the various customers that we serviced.
I was once contracted offsite to another firm to assist with
structural steel projects. I served in this role for two months with
no supervision from my company.
1997-2000 - Kitchen Worker. Appalachian Bible College. Bradley, WV.
1994-1997 Drafter/Product Development. Apex tools (formerly Cooper Hand
Tools). Sumter, SC.
I worked with engineers to develop a new product line of wrenches for
the company. Additionally, I created assembly and detail drawings of
numerous hand tools (screw drivers, pliers, locking pliers). Also, I
created packaging concepts, steel rule cutting dies, and production
machinery component drawings. Lastly, I created and maintained the
plant layout for normal operations as well as plant restructuring.
This layout included the facility, all machinery (with identification
tags), and evacuation routes. At Apex, I worked with steel forgings,
stamped steel, and laminated steel products. I was briefly exposed
to heat treating, Plastisol dipping, and injection molding.
