May 2006 - August 2008 (Alternating Work Rotations)
United Space Alliance (USA)
NASA Kennedy Space Center, FL
(USA is a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin for assembly and
operation of the Space Shuttle.)
Mechanical Engineer Main Propulsion System (MPS) Co-op
. Supplied continuous engineering liaison between the hands-on
technicians working on Orbiter Atlantis and the engineering support
organization to ensure technical, safety and reliability requirements
were met and any concerns were resolved.
. Provided real-time, on-console analysis and support for MPS in the
Shuttle Launch Control Center Firing Rooms for the successful launch
of Shuttle missions STS-121, 117 and 124 in 7/06, 6/07 and 5/08
respectively.
. Created Work Authorization Documents (WADs) to direct MPS technicians
to perform detailed work on flight hardware and assisted with hands-on
maintenance and testing of MPS flight hardware.
. Monitored the Lock Out/Tag Out database to assure safety of all
operations and continuously checked and verified that there were no
inconsistencies with companion MPS requirements and instructions.
. Recorded Shuttle ground support equipment temperature data during
launches and identified and assessed trends to provide predictive
analysis for thermal tolerance and to provide future real-time launch
support.
. Produced automated databases of flight hardware WADs in support of
launch readiness verification.
Summer 2004 and Summer 2005
COLSA Corporation
Huntsville, AL
(COLSA is an Engineering and Design Services company providing support to
the US Government.)
Administrative Technical Support II
. Served as an assembly technician for the creation and support of one
of the world's top ten fastest supercomputer systems (known as "Mach
5") which is used by the US Army for hypersonic missile defense
simulations.
. Designed and fabricated wire and cable paths to connect the computer's
4,672 parallel processor nodes to the central network controller and
to the internal power grid.
. Fabricated and installed extensive facility upgrades and modifications
to assure optimal computer operations. These included a service access
area, the system control room and the computer room itself.
. Developed and implemented a logistics support plan for the computer
system to ensure smooth and efficient operations during the assembly
phase and to enable timely completion of project milestones.
