PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Digital Systems Resources / General Dynamics - Anaheim Hills
Aug. 1999 - Nov. 2009
Senior Lead Engineer - Systems
Responsible for all passive signal processing software design, test and
integration for the Advanced Rapid COTS Insertion (ARCI) program. This
included the software development for both conventional and adaptive
beamformers using conventional phase shift beamformers for non-linearly
spaced fixed arrays and K-Omega beamformers for linearly spaced towed
arrays which used an optional beam space ABF. Twinline arrays were
processed using K-Omega beamformers along each array individually followed
by a phase shift beam combiner and finally by an Adaptive Interference
Canceller (AIC). Also responsible for design, test and integration of
passive broadband and passive narrowband signal processing for the ARCI
program. The target hardware was Intel Pentium and later Xeon based
machines using Solaris and later Linux OS with Multi-purpose Transportable
Middleware (MTM) for hardware independence.
Responsible for both conventional and adaptive beamformer software design
for the Advanced Deployable System (ADS). These systems were beach deployed
and utilized two different non-linearly spaced arrays. This system used a
phase shift beamformer for conventional beamforming and a Dominant Mode
Rejection (DMR) beamformer for adaptive beamforming.
Responsible for both passive and active beamformer software design for the
Littoral Combat Ship's UTAS unmanned towed array system. Target hardware
was Xeon processors running under Linux OS.
Responsible for the adaptive beamformer and passive broadband signal
processing software design, test and integration for the Low Power
Processor (LPP) variant of the Advanced Deployable System (ADS). Target
hardware was TI TMS320C67xx based embedded DSP processors along with an
ARM7 core for the Ethernet interface. Target language was C running under
3L Diamond RTOS developed and emulated in Code Composer Studio on a
PC/Windows host.
Responsible for the software development of a new algorithm used in the
Torpedo Readiness Alert Functional Segment (TRAFS) of the SQQ89 program.
This algorithm worked in a manner similar to speech recognition for the
detection and classification of Torpedo's using Cepstral signal processing.
Target software was written in C++.
Hughes Aircraft Co. / Raytheon Corp. - Fullerton
Feb. 1992 - Aug.
1999
Senior Engineer
Responsible for signal processing software design, test and integration for
an inverse beamformer target generator for the Surveillance Towed Array
Sonar Segment (SURTASS) program.
Responsible for signal processing software design, test and integration for
a sub-band peak energy detection algorithm for passive broadband signal
processing also for the SURTASS program. The target hardware was CSPI
Supercards using embedded i860 CPU's within SUN Sparc host computers.
Target language was C and the host OS was Solaris.
Hughes Aircraft Company - El Segundo
June 1988 -
Feb. 1992
Member of the Technical Staff 2
Responsible for the hardware design of the Beam Steering Computer for the
ASARS II Radar upgrade program for the TR-1 reconnaissance aircraft.
Responsible for the hardware and software design for the TMS320 based Beam
Steering Computer for the Project 212 Phased Array Radar program. Target
software was written in assembly language.
Responsible for the design of a standard cell ASIC that was used for the
control of Active Phased Array Radar T/R (Transmit/Receive) modules.
Developmental Sciences Corporation
March 1986 -
June 1988
Responsible for the hardware design, test and integration of a 68000 based
navigation system for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
Responsible for the hardware and software design, test and integration of
an 80C51 based payload control system. The imbedded 80C51 controlled
various payloads such as a FLIR, daylight TV camera, Infrared line scanner
as well as a pan camera for the UAV. Target software was written in C.
