and handle fine jewelry transactions, and storage; help train new employees with opening and
closing guidelines and handling of certain procedures.

Student Research Assistant
Assist researchers and scientists with the USGS studying sea lamprey movement in the Great Lakes with
laboratory research. Duties primarily include collecting highly concentrated samples of water from sea
lamprey larval holding tanks using rotary evaporation; recording the amount collected daily and any
unusual occurrences or change in procedure from that day. Other duties include transportation of sea
lamprey to biological station, usually from fish processing plants where lamprey were accidentally
caught; also general maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of lamprey holding tanks and laboratory
equipment. This job required knowing the proper and safe handling, labeling, and storage of dangerous
materials in accordance with EPA regulations.
4) Michigan State University

Sea Lamprey Research Technician
Assist graduate students and researchers from Michigan State University’s Department of Fisheries and
Wildlife stationed at Hammond Bay Biological Station in Millersburg, MI with field and laboratory
research. Duties include help set up equipment in preparation for experiments; collecting and recording
data from both observational and controlled studies; collecting and storing biological samples of sea
lamprey (blood and tissues); processing of blood samples by collecting blood plasma; handling sea
lamprey- sorting by sex, and level of maturity; and general upkeep and cleaning of holding tanks and lab
equipment. Required for this work was a workshop to learn the appropriate methods for the safe handling,
labeling, and storage of dangerous or harmful materials, in accordance with EPA regulations.

Volunteer Work:
I have done various volunteer work for NMU’s youth science fairs, tournaments, and special events,
which makes for educational experiences for participating middle and high school students.
I volunteer with Kohl’s department stores sponsored community events, generally field trips and
workshops at the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum in Marquette, Michigan.
I have also done international volunteer work in Australia during the summer of 2009-working alongside
conservation organizations which focused on habitat restoration, including native re-vegetation and exotic
species removal. I also worked closely with a team installing solar panels and building hiking trails.
Other Skills:
I have experience with computer programs, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Statistics
software (SPSS); ERDAS IMAGINE remote sensing software; and ESRI software (ArcGIS, ArcMap, and
ArcScene) from taking GIS college courses.
I am able to work and get along with coworkers and I strive to complete a job that is required of me; I pay
attention to detail and aim to finish a job to the best of my ability. I am reliable and flexible and don’t
