Substance Abuse Counselor
Responsible for maintaining caseload of up to 100 patients. Kept updated
all quarterly and annual reviews. Also, met with each patient on bi-weekly
basis to update treatment plan or to follow dimensions set within treatment
plan. Lead Substance Abuse Group for those who, even though in the program,
were continuing to actively use illicit drugs. Responsible for
communicating with other substance abuse agencies to obtain guest dosing
for patients going out of town or state.

Responsible for sitting in on particular classes to make sure that Special
Ed student got all notes needed for class. Helped with SOL testing for 9th
graders, tutored students to
help them pass classes. Also, worked as the Ombudsman for African American
Special Education Students - attended all meeting (i.e. IEP Meeting and
recertification) for students.

Family Service Worker (Social Worker)
Responsible for thirty-eight children's records and their families' social
needs. Wrote monthly reports, did home visits with each family and held
family meetings in the head start site. Worked with the community to obtain
services needed by the families who could not afford monthly bills or
dental service. This was a contract set up through Americorp/Viriginia
Vista.
7-2004 until 9-2004 Returned to Radford after living in Illinois for a
year. I returned to recover from a car accident which disabled me for a
short period of time.
5-2003 until 6-2004 Arboretum View Animal Hospital Downers Grove,

Emergency Room Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
Responsible for the intake of clients and their pets into the emergency
department. Kept records of client entries, did call backs once client was
released from hospital, used counseling skills to help grieving owners, and
contacted other emergency hospitals if
needed to transport out of our facility or make appointments for regular
vet visits.

Communications Operator B
Along with 3 other employees, was responsible for answering anywhere from
1200 to 1500 calls per day and then re-routing those calls to the various
departments within the hospital. Took messages for vet/vet students to give
clients call backs. Responsible for maintaining the cell phones used by
vets and students and kept pagers serviced.
12-2001 until 5-2002 Department of Juvenile Justice Richmond, Virginia
Human Rights Advocate for Juvenile Corrections Facility located in
Culpepper Va.
Collected and made decisions about grievances filed by the juvenile
prisoners. Worked closely with the prison guards and superintendent of
prison concerning charges of young men, also worked with in prison
counselor on case by case reviews. Submitted to Inspector General updates
on grievances, my opinion on each individual case. Set in on all
Administrative meetings that dealt with the lives of the juveniles inside
and outside the prison. Employment ended due to death experience.
8-2001 until 11-2001 New Life Recovery Treatment Center Radford, Virginia
Internship for Masters Degree in Human Services and Counseling
Did intake of new substance abuse clients (usually in house clients that
number 8), held substance abuse classes twice daily along with director,
and attended all outside meetings with clients. I was responsible for
writing reports on all clients during classes and finally had to keep case
reports on clients who I counseled individually.

Substitute Teacher/Penalty Hall Supervisor
Worked for school system as fill in for English, Math, Biology, Chemistry,
and the Elementary Librarian. Became a Teacher's Aide for Special Education
grades 9-12 working for Eleanor Wyatt. Taught English, world civics, and
science to these students. I was responsible for setting up my own
curriculum for world civics. Finally taught 6-weeks of Honors English
grades 9-12 when teacher was out.
8-1999 until 5-2000 Worked part time as a Graduate Student in the Sponsored
Research Office
Did research for professors' to find grant funds. Coordinated funding
guidelines and deadlines with organizations to help get projects finished
in timely manner.

Volunteer doing Internship while working on Criminal Justice BS Degree
Attended court representing juveniles on probation, did on site reports for
permanent records (working with Tyrone Hash), visited homes to check on
juveniles progress there, and visited detention center to complete reports.
