MS THESIS RESEARCH
. Title: "Comparison of Omni-directional Ultra-wideband (UWB) Microstrip
Slot Antennas and Directional Wideband Microstrip Patch Antennas for
Detection of Breast Tumors".
. Thesis Advisor: Prof. Satish K. Sharma, ECE, SDSU (Email:
*******@****.****.***).
. The purpose of this research work was to compare the antenna
characteristics of UWB Slot Antenna and Wideband patch antenna to
detect breast tumors. Individual and array of antennas were designed
around the breast tissue and the scattering parameters were recorded
and analyzed in frequency domain for various tumor sizes and shapes.
Experiments were performed by preparing tissue equivalent phantoms
which gave considerable results comparable to the simulation results.
The simulations were performed using Ansoft HFSS software and the
experiments were performed in the Antenna and Microwave Laboratory at
San Diego State University.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS (MS- San Diego State University)
Broadband Matching of Microstrip Antennas via Simplified Real Frequency
Technique
. A broadband antenna matching network for efficient transmission and
reception was developed using the Simplified Real Frequency Technique
(SRFT) that handles the matching problem through a scattering
approach. The circuit schematics was designed using the Microsoft
Office AWR software and MATLAB codes were generated for realizing the
matching network for equalizer, plotting gain and reflection circuits.
Investigations on Phased Array Antennas
. Research study project was conducted on phased array antennas in which
the antenna gain, directivity and beam steering and various phase
shifting techniques were investigated.
Median Filter Implementation in Texas Instrument Digital Signal Processor
TMS320C6711
. An Improved Median Filter was developed to remove the impulse noise
from the digital images. The noise pixels were replaced by the median
value using the built-in C compiler in the processor.
