Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD 2007-2008, TopoMap program,
LaModel program, mapping geologic formations underground and on the
surface, using GPS equipment, using water sampling equipment.
Education
B.S. Degree in Geology from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania obtained
May 2005. Undergraduate paleontology research.
M.S. Degree in Geology from West Virginia University, in progress,
completed May 15, 2011.
Relevant Experience
L.A. Gates Company in Beckley, WV (February 2009-July 2009). Geologist.
Assisted with various permitting duties associated with both surface and
underground coal mines. I was in charge of the DEP Permitting sections
that dealt with geology, including writing the reports and creating the
maps.
Arch Coal Company/Canyon Fuels in Scofield, UT (June 2007-October 2008).
Geologist I. Assisted the senior geologist at both the Skyline and SUFCo
underground coal mines. Assisted with coal exploration, permitting and
coal quality.
West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV (August 2005-June 2007).
Teaching Assistant. Taught 3-4 Introduction to Geology labs during the
school year and collected research for my thesis during the summer.
Berks Products Limestone Quarry in Leesport, PA. (February 2004-2005).
Geologic Intern. Collected water data from the various wells located
throughout the property. Created bi-weekly water table maps for the
senior geologist.
PA DEP-Bureau of Abandoned Mines in Harrisburg, PA. (May 2003-August
2004). Geologic Intern. Assisted in the creation of the PA Abandoned
Mines online directory, acid mine drainage sampling and various fieldwork
dealing with mine reclamation.
Other Experience
Kroger Grocery Store in Lewisburg, WV (May 2011-present). Cashier. Also
assisted when needed in the deli, flower and customer service
departments.
Greenbrier Girls Academy in Pence Springs, WV (August 2010-March 2011).
Mentor. Assist staff and other mentors with day-to-day activities. Also
help the girls with math and science homework as well as college prep.
