Summary

I am a prolific writer with over *** scientific publications

including three books and many technical reports. Publications list

available on request. I have a long history working well on teams (multi-

author publications) as well as overseeing the communications training of

up to 11 staff members of a small research and development company from

1999 to 2010. I was responsible for the final content of scientific

papers, reports to DOD requirements, brochures, business plans, and

promotional materials and in the preparation of all presentation materials

including oversight (but not programming of) over three websites. My

writing involved considerable editing and rewriting for different formats

and audiences. I am a self-starter who can liaise with scientists and

professionals from a wide range of disciplines and work to schedules

determined by others in order to achieve defined objectives.

I have worked and lived in the United States and internationally,

both in the private and public sectors as a line employee and

manager/director and am familiar with different levels of company,

government, and military-related activities and in conforming to government

contracting regulations and requirements. Writing was a particular feature

of all of my places of employment.

I have been a research scientist and manager of research teams and have a

broad understanding of both science and non-scientific research using a

variety of sources and am used to living on a steep learning curve. I use

a variety of word processors and MS Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, and

Acrobat for published figures,

Presently seeking part time employment in writing/editing that will

allow me to apply my expertise and experience and to bring added value to a

publishing operation.

In addition, he has operational experience in laboratory, marine, and

airborne research and is a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary with basic

FEMA certification for disaster management.

History of Employment

Marine Desalination Systems LLC (MDS). June 1999 to January 1011. CEO,

Head of Research. Company established to develop industrial gas hydrate

applications and water from air products. Government contractor 2001-2011:

DARPA (Industrial Applications of gas hydrate technology) and ONR

(Industrial Applications of gas hydrate technology and Atmospheric Water

Harvesting). Responsible for proposals in response to BAAs, company

management, training and personnel development. Successfully completed all

government contracts.

Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), May, 1996 to 1 June 1999 Code 7420, Marine

Sciences Division. Geophysical (aeromagnetic) and marine geological

research, led development of NRL gas hydrate research program. Scientific

representative to Senate Energy Committee (Congress) for the writing of the

enabling legislation for the National gas hydrate research program. August

1985 to May 1991: Acoustics Division. Geological and geophysical seafloor

characterization, led terrane analysis for geological/geophysical/

acoustical characterization of continental shelves, led joint DOE-USGS-NRL

research project in gas hydrates, airborne geophysics participant.

May 1991 to May 1996: NATO Undersea Research Centre, La Spezia, Italy.

Sonar and Mines Counter-Measure research, led develop of GIS-linked

database for continental shelf terrane analyses and mines counter measures.

Designed and carried out experiments as Chief Scientist on 4 major

Cruises, NATO scientific diver, led development of new equipment,

procedures, and MCM survey methods and communications.

1969-1985: Scientific Civil Servant. Geological Survey of Ireland,

Beggars Bush, Haddington Road, Dublin 4, Ireland. Senior Geologist - Lower

Paleozoic and Precambrian Section, nuclear waste disposal assessment, led

regional mapping and map compilation. Led regional geology project leader

and nearshore geology section as Diving Officer and Chief Diver.
