Hearing Screener: Pediatrix

Murfreesboro, Tn and SRHS Spartanburg, SC, March 2013 to Present

Educate parents with hearing screening information and get consent and forms filled out. Connect

newborns to the hearing screening machine using ear hugs and 3 electrodes and then begin to test the

infant’s hearing. When test is complete of both ears, explain the test results to the parent issuing the

screening certificate if the baby passes and unhook the baby from the machine. Enter patient information

into the computer system.

Child Birth Educator:

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg SC, Women’s Services, January 2009 to

November 2013

Taught Child Birth Classes, Four 2-hour sessions a month. Provide education in prenatal care, nutrition,

exercise, breathing, stages of labor, provide a tour of the hospital triage, labor and delivery, post-op and

nursery. Teach Infant Care Classes twice a month providing basic infant care while in hospital and care

when they bring infant home. Teach Sibling Class once a month for siblings and their family who are

expecting a new baby. Educate their role as a sibling and teach the children how to handle the new baby

and accept the baby and how they can help the parents with their new sibling.

This was a 20 hour a week position as the art specialist in which I developed a trusting relationship and

provided moral support working as an art therapist with cancer patients, their family members or

caregivers inviting them to explore art interventions as a part of their healing process. I worked closely

with the oncology unit helping with cancer screenings and survivorship programs. For the past 3 years I

facilitated a yearly Cancer Survivorship Art Exhibit in which approximately 68 artists exhibited their art

work during the week in our Cancer Center for patients and the public to view. I also hosted a reception

for the artists, physicians and employees during the exhibit as well.

CenteringPregnancy Coordinator:

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Regional OBGYN, Spartanburg, SC, January 2010 to July

2012

Grant Funded Position. Help coordinate and facilitate the Centering Pregnancy Program, assisting the

Nurse Midwife and PA with pregnant girls ages 15-22. Contact prospect patients and market the program.

Educate the girls during their visits about prenatal and childbirth care, nutrition, birth control and infant

care information.

The focus and objective of this program is to help educate the young mothers and to prevent pre-term

labor and low birth weight babies.

Community Medication Reconciliation Coordinator:

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg, SC January 2008-June 2009

A Duke Endowment Grant Funded Position. This position was to market the Universal Medication

Forms to physician and physician’s practices, pharmacists, and community organizations to educate and

promote the use of the Universal Medication Forms in three counties. Made follow-up visits and re-

stocked the forms and educational materials every month. I also promoted the use of the forms to

churches, Senior Centers, schools and community health fairs.

Patient Access Representative:

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Village at Pelham, Greer, SC April 2006-June 2007

My main responsibility was to develop positive relationships with physicians in order to foster patient/

physician relationships. Greet, assist and direct patients to check-in location. Help teach patients to use

kiosk self check-in system and to represent the Village at Pelham at health fairs.

Interim Project Manager- Marketing and Public Relations:

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Spartanburg, SC November 2005 to April 2006

In this position I managed more than 200 marketing projects throughout the production process. I led

weekly production meetings with the staff of marketing specialists and the artist to oversee projects and

entered new projects into Clients and Profits program and tracked progress daily. I also communicated

with vendors, placed advertisements and documented media coverage.
