Background
Interests
I’ve had many interests during my childhood. I’m a person who thinks it's fun to try new
things, and at the same time meet new people. At a young age, I played many games in all its
forms; card games, board games, miniature games, larp, computer games, video games etc.
When I grew older I got me an interest in music and began playing electric guitar. I have also
tried skateboarding and draw urban art (graffiti).
Nowadays, I don’t have any interests that clearly stand out. I feel like everything
that is new is interesting. Film, books, music, history, psychology, art, culture, people; is some
of the things that interest me. It's always fun to meet new people and talk about everything
there is to talk about. It opens one's own vision of how great life is and how much there is to
discover. This arouses my creativity and innovative thinking.
Design Process
I get my best ideas when I am doing something else, which has no relation to games. It may
be an experience that raises a feeling within me, activities, dreams, stories, or a wild
imagination. I believe that you must open your mind and take in everything that is within
one's environment, in order to eventually filter all impressions through the mind, to get a flash
of insight.
But I do not just woolly. I also use the tools and techniques I’ve learned, in order to
constructively and creatively work with my ideas.
Goals in life
I would like to be the best in my area, and proceed with starting up my own game studio.
Before that, I would like to create a name for myself, and see the world through the industry.
This will require hard work that I’m prepared to invest. I would also of course like to start a
family, and live my days happily ever after.
Favorite games
• Zelda - Ocarina of Time: What could be told that hasn’t been told already. The game
captures the player emotionally using, music, characters and stories. The most
interesting part of the game is the game's reward system. Ever become the player gets
rewarded with various items. Each time the player finds a new object, the object is
held up as if it was worth gold, with shelved tones in the background. The best
rewards in the game are; rupee (money), heart (health), arrows, bombs, etc. These
objects are collected and consumed throughout the game. Through a design
perspective, Zelda is actually a puzzle/treasure hunt game.
• Fallout 1 & 2: I’ve played these two games from the start to the ending, several times.
The "Special System" is one of my favorite rule systems. Only your imagination sets
the limits of character creation. Moreover, I love the game's black humor and
mysteries feeling that the game world brings with it.
• Steka ägg (Fry eggs): This is a board game from 3 years of age. The game is to get
rid of all the eggs that the player has put in her basket. The game itself has a very
simple system of rules, but generates many emotional twists. A turn in the game takes
only seconds to perform. Each turn determines whether the player will lose eggs or get
eggs.
• Rock-scissors-bag: We have all played it. Ingenious and simple. Each symbol has a
weakness, strength and neutrality. This game mechanics used by most game designers,
when creating tactical games. Moreover, I love games where one of the moments is to
predict the opponent.
• Street Fighter 3 - Third Strike: This is one out of those games that I still sit down
and play. Fighting games are like chess, but in real time. If you can predict the
opponent's move, you get the control over the game. This operation is even stronger in
Street Fighter 3. My favorite character is Ken and Akuma.
• Snow Wars: This game is a multiplayer mod for Half Life. Players play characters
who are involved in a big snowball fight. This game is a favorite on LAN. Me and my
friends always end up with laughing and screaming about how our middle finger hurts,
on account of rolling too many snowballs.
Academedia masters; Projektledning inriktning spel (2008-2010)
Game Design
My training in game design gave me a broad knowledge of how to proceed when considering
creating a game, and how to launch and market the game. These skills were developed both
inside and outside the classroom. Along with creative tools, we worked to find new uses for
games, and understanding the potentials of games. We learned; design processes, game
mechanics, the definition of player’s feelings, documentation, resource management, analysis,
focus testing etc.
Creative tools
One of the first skills we were allocated during the training, were the tools you could take on
hand for creative thinking, and how you can use them in different work processes. This is the
core of developing and managing new concepts in various fields.
Traditional project management
The training offered knowledge in traditional project management. In the traditional project
management, we learned; work processes within project management, leadership, project
planning, project finance, risk management, conflict resolution, team Building, customer
relations, contract management etc.
Scrum
During my education at Academedia Masters, we also worked in a project model that goes by
the name of Scrum. Scrum is a method for managing projects such as within the software
industry. A lesser number of project members on 5-9 people, divides their work into smaller
projects called sprints. Using this method, you can focus on solving a limited number of tasks
and deliver quality.
Entrepreneurship
The method of thinking big and starting small. We learned during training to think like
entrepreneurs. To understand the pathways one can take when establishing their own
businesses, and to see the possibilities in new ideas and products. We learned also how to
pitch new ideas to customers and investors.
Marketing
There are many ways to go when advertising a new product /service. During the course we’ve
learned how to reach their target market. In addition, we’ve also learned about the methods
that are used for marketing, both with and without funded resources.
