Department of State official in this second largest global law firm in the legislative group.
Also served as assistant to an Associate working closely with the attorney. The Federal
Affairs Practice represented many major corporations in all facets of the legislative and
regulatory practice, as well as officials in the executive branch.
Reviewed, printed and prioritized all e-mails and performed extensive internet research.
Performed Political Action Committee (PAC) activities such as submitting requests to the
firm’s PAC and maintaining status of requests; coordinated fundraisers, arranged fundraisers

registered lobbyists, worked with major corporate clients and coalitions on matters such as
airline competition, social security user fees, ground transportation legislation, and employee
benefits.
Liaised with Congressional members and staff, Administration officials, regulatory officials,
and had direct contact with clients; interfaced, on a regular basis, with the firm’s
Environmental and Communications groups when matters pertained to certain legislation or
regulatory issues.

and/or enacted legislation, status of bills and regulatory updates of importance to clients.

Served as primary assistant to the General Counsel in this real estate corporation of
approximately 2200 employees, who reported directly to the Executive Vice President, the
President of Charles E. Smith Management, Inc., and the President of Charles E. Smith
Construction, Inc. This involved direct coordination and communication with the above and
their staffs on a day-to-day basis.
Planned and organized the company’s executive retreat and monthly meetings of the
Executive and Management Committees; routinely organized management social functions.
Acted as the office manager for the Office of General Counsel, including supervision of the
support staff and temporary personnel and developed and implemented cost-cutting
measures for department personnel.
Maintained accurate and up-to-date data for the department on major company projects,
entities represented and outside counsel for these entities.
