University of Balamand Balamand El - Koura,
Lebanon
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
February 2009
EXPERIENCE:
I ndevco – Unipak Tissue M ill Division
H alat, Lebanon
I ndustrial T raining in a paper manufacturing plant
A ugust 2008
• Acquired knowledge about machines, industrial systems, and instruments through shadowing
employees
• Observed the techniques and processes used in the paper manufacturing plant
• Gained an understanding of the following: heat exchangers, pumps, boilers, fuel tanks, low and high
p ressure systems, types of fuels used, bearings, calculating the humidity of steam pipes using
psychrometric charts, vibration survey on rotating machinery, and t ransmission of motion
ACADEM IC PROJECTS:
N ortheastern University
Computational Fluid Dynamics:
Spring 2011
Completed five fairly complex projects by utilizing finite difference and finite volume methods applied to
f luid f low and heat t ransfer problems; developed the corresponding CFD codes using the software
M ATLAB and compared numerical results to analytical
Aerodynamics:
Fall 2010
• Ut ilized the CFD software FLUENT in order to perform a CFD analysis on an airfoil profile and to
simulate the f luid f low to attain the required results
• Composed a project about the Numerical Source Panel Method using Excel software; utilized a solver
t hat solves a system of 8 equations and 8 unknowns to calculate the pressure coefficient distribution
a round a circular cylinder after deriving the necessary equations
• Plotted airfoil profiles; calculated the corresponding lift, drag, axial, and normal forces, as well as other
p roperties such as moments and stresses by utilizing equations and formulations using Excel
spreadsheets
University of Balamand
• Designed an air measurement apparatus consisting of pipes, obstruction meters, manometers, and a
b lower to study the f low of air for the final project; presented information to professors and
approximately 50 students
• Conducted experiments and submit ted professional lab reports on centrifugal pumps, wind tunnels,
converging diverging nozzles, Pelton turbines, sharp-edged orifices, and venturimeters
• Researched solar water heaters and conversion of solar energy to heat water. Studied the energy
t ransferred due to the conduction, convection, and thermal radiation, and compiled results and
research into a report
• Studied and delivered a presentation to professor and classmates about stress and stiffness due to
torsion in thin-walled membranes, in solid non-circular membranes, and in thin-walled open cross-
sections
