extra test audit step costing $0.5 M annually was removed in 4
months without affecting product quality adversely.
. Product Quality - Later, shouldered additional responsibility of
Customer Quality, for the top North American customer. The job
included many short term projects involving field return
statistical analysis leading to product quality improvement through
manufacturing and/or engineering actions. The field Early Return
Index (ERI) was reduced from about 6% to 1.5%.

This full time position involved improving processes through cross
functional teams and internal /external TL9000audits. Spearheaded two
important projects to improve performance metrics and achieve
significant savings:
. Time-to-Market. - The task was to come up with one simplified
process for New Product Development across the globe to improve
Time to Market by 20%. This involved working with international
design centers, drawing the as-is process map, weeding out non
value-added activities, and implementing one optimized to-be
process map across all design centers. 15% Time to Market
improvement was achieved resulting in $50K savings for small
projects and approx $250K for big projects. The savings do not
include increased profits due to early product availability in the
market.
. Repair Services. - The On-Time delivery (OTD) has been about 60% in
the last 2 years and overdue backlog had swelled to about 4000
units at Repair Center affecting customer satisfaction adversely.
Great results were achieved by improving the process. The OTD
improved to about 97% and overdue backlog was reduced to 40 units
