Manage the technical aspects of environmental litigation for
major oil company on nationwide suits alleging soil and ground
water impacts. Supervise experts on: trial theme development,
data review, trial reports, deposition preparation and defense,
and trial testimony. Oversee the development and work on
technical issues (data collection; data interpretation; fate &
transport; attenuation; source, pathway, and receptor analysis)
to insure consistency and technical defensibility of litigation
testimony. Coordinate with joint defense co-counsel regarding
these matters. Continually monitoring the "state of the
science" as it pertains to environmental issues.

Responsible for various retail, transportation, and refinery
regulatory environmental compliance matters across the U.S.
Managed and coordinated the majority of the environmental
litigation alleging soil and ground water impacts by oxygenates.
Supervised numerous outside attorneys and staff. Managed the
work of technical consultants (geologists, hydrogeologists,
chemists, biologists, and computer modelers) and testifying
experts. Worked with corporate client groups to develop
litigation strategies that met business goals. Coordinated
handling of Natural Resource Damage issues, including settlement
negotiations with state agency/trustee representatives.
Collaborated with business groups on litigation avoidance and
proactive efforts including: national corporate policies, state
and federal agency relations and education, and product handling
and use. Conducted seminars for clients on liability,
discovery, and risk management. Served as contact attorney for
Shell's research and technology scientists regarding geology,
hydrogeology, chemistry, biology, and computer modeling.

for Equilon and Motiva. Assisted in policy-making regarding the
handling of these suits by providing input on liability and risk

injury (retail and refinery clients) and contract (supply and
construction) litigation.

Managed numerous lawsuits, including environmental suits
alleging saltwater impacts to aquifers from produced water and
methane impacts to aquifers from coal-bed methane production.
Also handled numerous oil & gas (royalty payments, lease issues,
exception locations, geophysical data acquisition and trespass,
easements, pooling, and surface use), supply contracts, and
personal injury (retail and refinery) litigation.
