Biographical Information (
I gave my life to Christ in 1971 at the age of 26, as a result of a
neighbor caring about me. I have served the Lord since that time as a lay
leader, mentor, teacher, counselor and pastor. I love the Lord and want to
serve Him until He takes me home. I have been blessed in this life. God
allowed me to build a Land Surveying and Professional Engineering business
while serving under some very godly men and learning how to minister to
others.
PERSONAL STATEMENT(
I did not grow up in a Christian home. I attended church all of my life
and can honestly say that I had never heard the Gospel of Christ until I
was in my mid-twenties. My first exposure to the gospel came from a
neighbor who after dinner one night asked me the all important question,
"Doug, if you were to die tonight would you go to heaven or hell?" After
thinking about it for several minutes I replied, "Well Norm, I'm sure I'll
go to heaven. Look at all the good things I've done in my life: gone to
church all of my life, taught Sunday School and even sung in the choir." He
then showed my through scripture that I need a personal relationship with
Jesus by asking Him to forgive me of my sins through His shed blood and
then asking Him to be my Savior. I thought about what Norm had said over
the next couple weeks and then one evening asked my Jesus to forgive me and
to be my Savior. My life has never been the same. What an exciting
adventure!
I have now served Him for over thirty-nine years and it just gets better
and better.
Philosophy of Ministry (
My heartbeat is evangelism. I have a passion to see people become
committed followers of Christ. The church must seek to invest in people's
lives, win them Jesus, and integrate them into fully committed partners
with Christ. This passion and hunger to see people become followers of
Christ will be the heartbeat of any ministry I am involved.
I also have a passion for preaching and teaching the Bible. There is a
tremendous need for relevant Biblical preaching in today's culture. My
objective is to be involved and use my talents in a relevant church or
organization.
These 6 characteristics describe ministry for me:
> Evangelism-a witness for Christ, sharing the gospel.
> Equip-the process of growing spiritually more mature believers.
> Exalt-the worship of God for who He is and what He has done.
> Encourage-loving and helping those who are a part of the body of
Christ in grace.
> Enlist-helping believers discover who God has made them, and what He
wants them to do.
> Engaged-building meaningful relationships with God and with others.
Another way to say this would be: Belong, Believe, Become, Bring, & Bless
Life Verse-6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the
peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV)
Ministry Verse-19Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of
everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to
reach a wide range of people: 20religious, nonreligious, 21meticulous
moralists, loose-living immoralists, 22the defeated, the demoralized-
whoever. I did not take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ-
but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point
of view. I've become just about every sort of servant there is in my
attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. 23I did all this
because of the Message. I didn't just want to talk about it; I wanted to
be in on it! (I Corinthians 9:19-22 THE MESSAGE)
Hobbies and Interests (
Some of my hobbies and interest include reading, golf, computers, studying
God's Word and spending quality time with Ruth.
