Human Resources Administration
> Administer human resources policies and procedures that cover leave
administration, benefits, and employee relations.
> Review, validate and enter data into a central HR information system.
(DEFINE).
> Respond to request for information and data from departments within the
University and from external customers.
> Provide advice, counsel and guidance to employees/supervisors on issues
that impact their work life related to their functional areas.
> Collect and analyze human resources data and then provide advice and
counsel department management regarding HR policy interpretation and
procedures.
> Conduct audits and/or investigations on Time and Labor issues and provide
recommendations to management.
> Collect and analyze metrics related to the leave department to include
FMLA, STD/LTD Claims, Sick Leave Pool Contributions.
> Serve as departmental liaison on a wide variety of Human Resources
matters. Keep senior management apprise of non-routine concern or
potential problems.
> Coordinate with university personnel on initiating/completing various HR
business functions. (Appointment changes, payroll, benefits, etc.)
> Maintain files and records in compliance with local, state and federal
agencies (I.e. FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and ADA) and maintain
consistency with policy, procedures and regulation across the University.
> Supervise the work of others (staff and work study) to include setting
goals and objectives to meet business objectives.
> Develop and conduct training classes, workplace policies and procedures
for the University. (FMLA and ETM).
> Maintain and exercise strict confidentiality in all HR matters.
> Execute and implement change initiatives that align with goals and
business strategies.
Leave Administration
> Process "Leave of Absence" and "Return to Work" requests for employees on
a case by-case basis.
> Conduct interactive meetings with associates of status of leave taken in
compliance with applicable laws and company policy. Research and remain
abreast of applicable laws. (e.g FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.) .
> Assist in the filing of claims process of STD (Short-term Disability) for
both Faculty and Staff employees.
> Coordinate with Benefits Department to provide employee's assistance and
guidance with regards to questions concerning their medical coverage,
premiums, and COBRA (upon termination of employment or retirement).
> Counsel employees regarding benefit issues and provide accurate
information to employee's on a wide range of leave matters.
> Coordinate with AA's, Supervisors and other university departmental staff
with regards to implications of leaves of absences for both Faculty and
Staff.
> Collaborate with various university personnel with referrals to employee
relations, provide advise on corrective action, payroll issues,
processing of appointments, appointment changes, and benefit related
issues.
> Coordinate with departmental management, Employee Relations, and EHS on
accommodations due to medical restrictions/limitations.
> Conducted training on FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and ETM (Time
Management System in DEFINE).
> Maintain files and records in compliance with local, state and federal
agencies. (I.e. ADA, FMLA, Worker's Compensation).
> Follow-up on processing of Worker's Compensation claims and return to
work coordination with EHS. (Job analysis).
