QUALIFICATIONS

Strong theoretical and practical background in biological science.

Familiar with general lab practices, such as pipetting and micropipetting,

solution preparation, centrifugation, autoclave operation, media

preparation and aseptic technique.

Capable of basic molecular biology techniques.

Experience maintaining clear and detailed lab notebook.

Good mathematics skills with understanding of metric system and lab

conversions.

Computer proficiency with knowledge of Windows, MS Word and Excel, internet

and e-mail. Some bioinformatics experience.

Capable of moderate physical labor, including lifting 50+ lbs. and standing

for extended periods of time.

Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

EXPERIENCE

Intern (Part-time, June 2010 - December 2010)

Delaware Technical & Community College - Stanton; Newark, DE.

Participate in microbiology research project. Prepare media and cultures.

Perform Gram stains, DNA extraction, PCR, restriction digests and agarose

gel electrophoresis, as well as some bioinformatics work analyzing

sequences. Help with general lab housekeeping (washing glassware,

autoclaving materials, etc.).

EDUCATION

Attending Delaware Technical & Community College - Stanton, part-time;

Newark, DE.

Major: Biotechnology. Coursework completed in biology, microbiology,

general chemistry and introductory organic chemistry. GPA: 3.27. Dean's

List, 2 semesters. President's List, 1 semester.
