Civil Designer: ACAD 2008 w/Civil 3-D
• CADD environment designer
• Create existing digital terrain models in Civil 3D compiled from points shot
from right-of-way to right-of-way on a 50' grid for multiple 6 to 8 mile divided
highway projects. Working out problems with lock ups on computer due the
mass of information that it took to create these lengthy models. Create
proposed digital terrain models assembled from design horizontal
alignment and design profile. Then I designed assemblies to accurately
create roadway sub-grade from catch point to catch point. All projects
where non-typical open ditch. Create dynamic cross sections with
accumulating quantities charts.
• Compare embankment/excavation findings to design plan quantities to
ensure that earthwork differences where cost effective for creating a
submittal package to present to LADOTD for additional compensation.
• Responsibilities included managing incoming and outgoing survey data for
(6) two to three man crews on multiple 6 to 8 mile divided highway projects.
Create package for LADOTD consisting of the following:
• Records of control data used by survey to base existing terrain data
collected.
• Plot full size cross sections with accumulating quantities charts on 100'
intervals.
• Prepare quantities reports stemmed from Civil 3D software supporting
quantity charts reflected on cross sections.
• Prepare cost estimate report that reflected the differences in
embankment/excavation between our findings and the design firms
earthwork quantity used in design plans. Apply that number to the cost of
excavation or embankment acquiring the overall additional costs in-cured
by our company to accurately build the roadway to design plan
specifications
