- Serve as a liaison between Bell Labs design group and Supply Chain

Network for various product development/new design projects to achieve

Alcatel-Lucent world wide cost reduction goals.

- Responsible for 5ESS Switching System and CDMA MSC supplier

sourcing/qualification, material localization/qualification in low

cost countries, like China, India.

- Responsible for material planning, inventory control and provide

support to the sales team for the delivery on time to the customers.

- Responsible for the cost reduction program management over the

production lines.

- Managing EMS suppliers (Jabil, Selectron, Flextronics, etc.) to

support Alcatel-Lucent global manufacturing.

Major accomplishment:

- Achieved and exceeded, Lucent world-wide cost reduction project

targets for global system integration centers located in China, India,

Poland, Spain and Brazil.

- Led the initiative to source components in China for export to the US

and other regions---activities including the Chinese supplier's price

negotiation, logistic planning, product samples, manufacturing

qualification, the Bell Labs testing and approval. The resourcing of

the commodities resulted in substantial savings dollars.

Lucent Technologies, Qingdao, China (1993 --- 2000)

Purchasing Manager

Major responsibilities include procurement and material/production

planning, supplier qualification, contract negotiation, supplier

relationship management, logistics planning and inventory management.

Major accomplishment:

- Managing Lucent Qingdao material/production planning to support Lucent

global supply chain and make the factory to become the biggest Lucent

oversea factory in the world.

- Developed the Lucent Qingdao localization process, which included

opportunity list review, supplier selection, supplier site survey,

sample test plan and supplier qualification plan.

- Lead the localization process to select the local Chinese suppliers

and coordinated with Lucent Bell Labs design team to do the supplier

site survey, sample test and qualify the local supplier manufacturing

facilities.

- Developed and implemented Lucent Qingdao supplier relationship

program, which applied to all Lucent Qingdao local suppliers.

- Incorporated Lucent component commodity strategy to China local

suppliers

- Consecutively far exceeded Lucent Qingdao purchase material cost

savings target, through contract price negotiation, supplier incentive

program, resourcing and open-bid with the different component

commodity suppliers. The savings resulted in approximately several

millions of dollars.
