B.E&K. Engineering, Mobile, AL. (Sep 98-Feb 01)
Mechanical Senior Design Leader for SAPPI Mobile, AL Mill and Muskegon MI Mill
(formerly Scott Paper Co. S.D. Warren Fine Papers Division). Projects were mostly
Maintenance and Safety with a few Capital Improvements. The largest Safety Project
worthy of note and completely of my Design (Mechanical and Structural only) was the
Guarding of a Jagenberg Sheeter in the Muskegon Plant, following a large fine to the
Plant by OSHA, for a failed guard and interlock of the original factory design which
resulted in the death of a mechanic in the Mobile Plant. Due to its nature, the Project
received much scrutiny by Company officials and it resulted in the successful re-start-up
of the Sheeter (granted by OSHA) and at a net saving of a quarter of a million dollars,
from the quote by the manufacturer for the modifications recommended on the existing
one.

Shaw GBB, Mobile, AL. (Jan 06-Feb 08)
I Worked as Lead Mechanical and Structural / Concrete Designer on various Marine and
Container Crane re-furbishing projects, among them, South Carolina State Port
Authorities, Kodiak Island Terminals, Honolulu Port Facilities and Port of New Orleans.
On port of New Orleans I also worked on a post Katrina Project to de-commission two
cranes and a Rail Loading System for a Motor Vessel sold to the Alabama State Port
Authorities, moved and re-commissioned in the Port of Mobile. The second year I was
the Lead and only Mechanical Designer on the Coal Handling State Project for the Port
of Mobile’s McDuffie Island. I worked for nine months on the design and installation of
nine 6-foot wide bulk belt conveyors (one of which was half mile long and reversing with
a double rise and a 68,000lbs. gravity take-up), all the chutes and diverter flop gates (one
of which was custom designed to discharge side to side perpendicular to flow) and two
specialized re-distributing coal ‘rail mules’ being fed from Stacker/Re-claimers along the
twelve tower bins and conveyor head pulley and drive housings (with design and
construction of five new ones). The completion of this Project made the Port of Mobile
the largest Coal Handling Marine Facility in the Northern Hemisphere to date.
Sirius Technical Services, Mobile, AL. (Feb 08-May 09)
I worked on site at Honeywell UOP in Chickasaw as Designer for the Capman Group
under direct Client’s supervision. I worked on a number of Mechanical and Structural
Projects, including a Centrifuge Drive Conversion/Replacement, a Dust Abatement
Installation Revamp, a Hot Water Tank Replacement, complete redesign of a Vibratory
Conveyor and Support System and a Mill-wide safety Project to replace all non-OSHA
conforming Ladders, Catwalks and Platforms.
Self-Employed, Mobile, AL. (May 09-Present) After the Economic downturn I was laid-
off by Sirius due to reduction of Project Funding at UOP. I am currently working as a
freelance Designer from home, on mostly shop details for commercial structural steel
fabrication packages, supplemented by my own Courier business for Medical facilities
and Pharmaceutical Companies.
