How would you describe your Management Style?
My management style is born out of teamwork, collaboration, communication and a sense of urgency and time. I assemble and build
and manage teams for design, engineering and construction. I am a firm believer of leading from the front and not asking members of
the team to do something that I haven’t done and understood myself. I am a motivator and realistic goal setter. My prior experiences of
having to do specific tasks, to solve problems, and attain goals helps me apply realistic goals, motivate and mentor staff in solving
problems and never losing sight of the goal.
I utilize hands off approach to employees and use a comprehensive employee performance management system and profit sharing to
motivate. I handle each employee differently based on personality, their personal career goals and ability to handle specific tasks. I
motivate team members to a common vision on project goals and deadlines. I coach each employee differently based on their level of
maturity, age, personality. I assemble project teams and place each employee within the team structure based on the strengths of and
specific personalities of each team member. I allow each person voice in company meetings to move and direct the company in
accordance to maintain the mission statement, company and project goals.
How has your entrepreneurial experiences shaped the way you conduct business?
My background and experience from managing my former companies, an A/E Company and Real Estate Companies has molded my
entrepreneurial mind set to conduct business for any company. I understand that success is acquiring and surrounding myself with
smart and similarly yoked people to achieve company goals and follow a comprehensive business plan. A comprehensive business
plan was my blueprint in achieving the goals that I had outlined for the company. Understanding the interrelations of finance,
productivity and marketing of services were derived from having an accountant, attorney and banker to provide the necessary data and
viewpoints. Meetings between myself and those individuals were held on a regular consistent basis maintain a strong vector to maintain
initiative and forward vision for the company. Mentoring and motivating staff and people in a team environment was one of my main
tools to drive success toward company goals. This is the entrepreneurial experience that I cultivated, performed and perfected. I also
understand that long hours and hard work balanced with outside interests is what drives success for all staff. This balanced approach
was encouraged with all staff. In an entrepreneurial mindset one has to see the big picture at all times. Once of my internal talents is
seeing the big picture, being able to see problems developing, assemble a solution, delegating to the right people, and overseeing the
solution to the end. This takes constant communication. Good communication is the key to formulating a solution . My entrepreneurial
experiences have also compelled me to understand finances, management skills and operational efficiency. I did this by surrounding
myself with key people. A good accountant, a good attorney and a good banker. By asking questions, learning and applying what I
learned I developed necessary skills to understand the important aspects of business operations and not just doing engineering,
architecture. This experience level has forged an individual who has a comprehensive understanding of company business in the
design, construction and real estate development industry.
The career lineage of an individual defines their level of expertise. What is your lineage?
I am an individual that took the road less traveled. I took the route of apprenticeship then obtained my degrees while doing so. I learn
HOW it’s built BEFORE I learned how it is designed. It allowed me to obtain necessary and practical experience first then couple it with
my educational experience. This talent allows me to see a cost effective solution that comes from the combination design and practical
construction experience.
My lineage has maintained a desire for practical knowledge that has maintained my eagerness for continued education to be certified
and licensed as a professional in LEED, an architect and engineer in 7 states. This consistently applies a high standard of excellence
and accomplishment, to exemplify and demonstrate my commitment as a professional for any organization.
