start up of industrial/automotive computer controlled automatic test panel
painting machines (to simulate robotic paint lines), reciprocators, process
controls, fluid flow control systems and special automatic systems.
Responsibilities include working closely with engineering in the design of
new machines, options and controls for the automotive OEM paint testing to
simulate automotive robotic painting. Integrating controls and modifying
machines for electrostatic robotic bell applicators, interfacing with bell
speed controllers, high voltage controllers and 2 component mixing systems.
Work with engineering and key accounts (PPG, BASF, DuPont, Akzo Nobel,
etc.) troubleshooting machines, paint equipment and systems for producing
paint test panels for automotive paint customers (Ford, GM, Honda, BMW
etc.).
Primary contact for sales and service for all accounts worldwide. Consult
with end users to provide assistance for troubleshooting, improving
processes, and quality control.
11/2001 - 10/2003 Artomation (Advanced Robotic Technologies)
Cleveland, OH
Lab Manager
Responsibilities included the overall direction of the product
demonstration lab. Performed live demonstrations of automated robotic paint
machines, spray equipment with end user's paint and products.
Installed, set up, and demonstrated multi-axis robotic painting machines.
Installed ancillary paint equipment, spray guns, rotary atomizers, powder
systems. Programmed robotic machines with end user spray equipment to
automatically apply various coating to end user products.
Responsible for all service, maintenance and overall performance of lab
robotic machines, spray equipment and training customers on the use of
multi axis robotic painting machines.
Engineered finishing processes and layouts for existing and potential
customers of liquid and powder coating systems from pretreatment, material
handling, to application equipment to meet customer specifications.
Duties also consisted of consulting with existing and potential customers
to improve automation of paint finishing lines, solving problems with paint
application issues by providing solutions.
Supervised installation of robotic application systems, and trained
customers on proper use of robotic systems, software, and application
equipment optimizing production processes.
4/1998 - 11/2001 American Industrial Corporation Greenwood/IN
Finishing Specialist
Accomplishments include converting automotive tier supplier (Aeroquip
Inoac, Fremont, OH) from conventional hand spraying to electrostatic hand
spraying. Conversion of this automotive parts supplier to complete
automatic painting was accomplished by installing reciprocators with rotary
atomizers and Fanuc robots with spray guns for final touch up of spoilers
and body side molding, resulting in over 5 million dollars of savings in
paint alone.
Responsibilities included training users on proper use, maintenance of
spray equipment, auditing paint lines to reduce defects improving quality,
efficiency and end user satisfaction of paint line.
Factory trained with distribution product lines, including ITW Ransburg,
ITW Gema, ITW DeVilbiss, ITW Binks, Nordson and Aro finishing equipment and
systems.
Other duties included working with engineering personnel to secure
finishing system sales within the assigned territory. Worked with
suppliers to achieve "supplier direct" system sales for the assigned
territory.

Supervised automotive engineered paint line installations, start up,
training operators, and providing technical support for multi-million
dollar automotive paint systems for Ford, Donnelly, Becker, i.e.
Set up weekly demonstrations of automatic paint machines using
electrostatic air spray, rotary atomizers, airless paint systems for
potential customers.
Responsible for maintenance of demonstration lab, paint storage/waste, and
all spray equipment.
