I would like to pursue a job that will use, challenge, and enhance the
skills I currently have while possibly adding more to the list. I quickly
pick up new skills needed to work in most areas and would be an asset to
any team.

Buck Marine Diesel
3060 Old NC 11
Winterville, NC 28590
August 2004-Feb 2010
Summary - Marine Diesel Design Specialist. Involved in concept, design and
assembly of marine diesel engine with use of 3D CAD, CNC Machinery, CNC
Programming, and CAM Software.
Description - Working for Buck Marine Diesel was a challenging learning
experience. Initially hired for CAM software (GibbsCAM and FeatureCAM) and
CNC G and M code programming. Was quickly recognized for skills with
computers and ability to learn. Soon worked in discussion and design of
the engine as pieces were machined and assembled. This led to picking up
3D CAD skills on Solidworks 2005 as changes were made to existing parts.
As the company hired more workers, I was put in charge of 2-4 team members
teaching them how to use the machines and to monitor and help where
needed. As progress was made on the engine, my projects started to include
the assembly of the engine and working with a programmer to design and run
the common rail fuel system. Work with Labview and wiring techniques were
involved in this process. When prototype was completed, was expected to
run engine when testing or during demonstrations. This included knowledge
of the common rail system, the fuel injectors, pulse width, and timing of
the engine. As the project continued was put in charge of 3D CAD design on
another engine design. This included changing on existing parts and
creation of new ones. All of this has been done in Solidworks 2007. Until
7 months ago, was working on all of my own projects while still supervising
and helping other employees where needed. This ended because of the
company falling under due to lack of funding.
Skills - 3D CAD: Solidworks, Pro Engineer
Discussion and Design of a new Marine Diesel Engine
Design and research for Manufacturing/Assembly: Marine Diesel Engine
Engine Program Control: Fuel System and Engine Monitoring,
CNC Machine Programming: G and M Codes
CNC Machine Repair: Haas, Mazak
Use of measuring tools - Calipers, micrometers, etc.
CAM Software: GibbsCAM and FeatureCAM
Management of shop floor: 2-4 People,
Microsoft Office XP: Specifically Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Use of many math skills: Specifically algebra and trigonometry
3D CAD/Fixture Design Engineer/CNC Programmer
Flander's Filters
531 Flanders Filters Road
Washington, NC 27889
Summary: Originally hired for 3D CAD skills to help with design and bill
of materials for R&D filter machines. Quickly moved to help with
design of fixtuing used to help with welding and assembling of MOX
nuclear boxes. Picked up skills while continuing to help with skills
I already had.
Description: Working for Flander's Filters I was able to take the skills I
gained from Buck Marine Diesels and enhance them while picking up new
skills. I quickly learned Inventor and was able to help with the
designing of fixtures for MOX nuclear glove boxes. I was required to
take an assembled box and create an assembly of a fixture that would
be used to help with the welding and assembly processes of the box. I
then made a bill of materials for the fixture and created 2D drawings
for design concept and machining uses. I also created .dxf files for
use on a laser and water jet. During the use of the jigs I was often
involved in problem solving and enhancement of fixtures on the fly.
Because I had skills with CNC machining and the use of CAM software I
often helped with the programming of a large vertical CNC machine. A
FARO arm was also used on occasion to check the precision of machined
parts. I was able to take the data from this device and compare it
with the 3D CAD drawings to check for machining accuracy.
Skills - 3D CAD: Inventor
- Discussion of fixturing designed for welding and assembly of MOX glove
boxes.
- Design of fixuring using Inventor. Use of a box assembly and adding
parts to create new fixture assembly.
- Implementation of fixture designs.
- Creation of 2D drawings for design and machining use.
- Creation of .dxf files for water jet and laser use.
- CNC Machine Programming: G and M Codes
- CAM software for programming: GibbsCAM
- Gained knowledge for machining and welding of 304L stainless steel.
- Microsoft Office XP: Specifically Excel and Word
- Use of many math skills: Specifically algebra and trigonometry
- Use of FARO arm as CMM - Took information and compared with 3D models.
