PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (chronological)
eBaum's World Inc. (eBaumsworld.com) Rochester, NY
Chief Operating Officer 2004-2007
Summary: In November of 2004, I was brought on as the 3rd employee of
eBaum's World, joining CEO Eric Bauman and EVP Neil Bauman. As the COO, I
had a wide range of job duties, but my main focus was always the product
itself, managing the roadmap and strategy for the website, and executing on
new ideas and features. I was responsible for building the initial team
of web engineers, designers, system admins, and editors, and also directly
managing each department. Within the first 6 months, I had led our team to
successfully transform the entire operation, from a static HTML, manually
updated "hobby" website running on an antiquated hardware infrastructure -
to a fully dynamic, custom built CMS, running on 1/4 the number of servers
as before, all while maintaining exponential growth in web traffic. By
2005, once our infrastructure was in place, we focused on developing new
features that would help us grow our audience and appeal to more users.
We became the first web video site to introduce social networking features,
offering our users profiles, status updates, private messaging, buddy
lists, groups, and competitive flash gaming tournaments. We quickly
realized these features were changing the way our audience interacted with
our website, skyrocketing our time on site and pages per visit metrics.
By 2006, ebaumsworld.com was ranked as one of the top 5 web video sites by
ComScore and Alexa and in 2007 we were acquired by ZVUE Corp in a deal
valuing the company at $52M.

Zvue Corporation San Francisco, CA Rochester, NY
Director of Web Operations 2007-2009
Summary: In November of 2007, eBaum's World was acquired by ZVUE
Corporation, a publicly traded company that was making the transition into
digital media. Their vision was to establish a network of media sites,
having acquired several smaller websites before us, such as Putfile.com,
Dorks.com, YourDailyMedia.com, and others. In the terms of our
acquisition, ZVUE requested to keep the eBaum's World team intact and
running the operation as we did before, while using our expertise to help
them develop and grow their other web properties in a similar fashion. In
the first 6 months, I was asked to meet with the ZVUE executive team in San
Francisco on several occasions to help them identify and eliminate
shortcomings in their operations, specifically in product management,
advertising, marketing, and IT infrastructure. By 2008, we had
successfully transitioned the entire ZVUE web operations to our
headquarters in Rochester, cutting costs significantly and simplifying the
overall management of 7 separate web properties. In 2009, due to some
toxic financing that occurred before our acquisition and the state of the
market in general, ZVUE was delisted from the NASDAQ and begun closing down
their operations. Myself and our entire Rochester team were laid off on
January 31, 2009.

responsibilities inherited from the acquisition

and the market

in their network
Identified major shortcomings of the existing ZVUE web ops team
performed on-site analysis of the entire web operations team in San
Francisco
personally met with and assessed every employee and their role in the
company
developed a plan of action to safely eliminate the need for the San
Francisco team and to transition the web ops to our Rochester team
Managed the transition of the entire web operations from the San Francisco
based ZVUE team to the newly acquired Rochester based eBaum's World team
conducted analysis of entire ZVUE web operations

alternatives

datacenters into one datacenter
cut total web ops costs by over 75%

Summary: On February 1st, 2009, hours after being laid off by ZVUE, myself
and of my team were re-hired by Eric Bauman, former owner and CEO of
eBaum's World. Our goal was to leverage our strengths in the web video
industry to help us build a new social web video site and also begin a web
consulting business. We spent that first weekend building and launching
our first iteration of eBaumNation.com, a completely from scratch re-write
of what we learned over the course of 5 years at eBaum's World. Within
the first month, we had developed a community of over 30k unique visitors
and received some major press for various deals we landed. By 2010, we
had expanded our web property portfolio to include a successful ecommerce
site generating over $250k in revenue annually. In June of 2010, for
financial reasons, Eric decided to cease all internal product management
and engineering and I was laid off along with several other employees.
