1. Duties: As a Division level Field Artillery Intelligence Officer I serve

as Fire Support Element (FSE) representative in the all-source production

center (ASPC). I Inform the Commander of fire support intelligence

requirements; for example, high-payoff targets and indicators. I also

screen and segregate combat information, weather, and intelligence in the

ASPC for use in fire support targeting. I then pass targets developed by

the ASPC to the FS cell. Coordinate cueing of target acquisition resources

under ASPC control with the FS cell. Advise the Commander on fire support

and target acquisition matters.

In a brigade I analyze targets for possible engagement by nuclear and toxic

chemical weapons, as directed by the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator

(AFSCOORD); plan interdiction targets for attack by conventional, nuclear,

and chemical fires or weapons. I perform detailed target analysis and aim-

point refinement as part of the planning effort. I also provide technical

expertise regarding limiting requirements, troop safety, collateral damage

preclusion, and effects of enemy/friendly weapon systems.

2. As a Targeting officer my duties are the related tasks and systems that

provide collective and coordinated use of Army indirect fires, joint fires,

and command and control warfare, including non-lethal fires, through the

targeting process. It includes tasks associated with integrating and

synchronizing the effects of these types of fires and command and control

warfare-including nonlethal fires- with the effects of other war fighting

functions. These are integrated into the concept of operations during

planning and adjusted based on the targeting guidance. Fires normally

contribute to the overall effect of maneuver but commanders may use them

separately for the decisive operation and shaping operations. The fires war

fighting function includes the following tasks:

. Decide surface targets.

. Detect and locate surface targets.

. Provide fire support.

. Assess effectiveness.

. Integrate command and control warfare, including nonlethal fires.

3. As a Radar section leader/Radar technician I advise the commander and

staff of tactical and technical considerations affecting employment of the

radar. I troubleshoot the Ground Based Sensor and FIREFINDER radar

assemblies, sub-assemblies, modular and circuit elements with common and

system-peculiar test equipment for deficiencies and malfunctions. I also

repair, remove, and/or replace defective components and parts of these

systems. I inspect, test, and adjust system components and test equipment

to specific tolerances. The end result is I determine serviceability and

disposition of GBS and FIREFINDER radar system assemblies, sub-assemblies,

and parts. I also perform initial, in-process, on-site technical and

quality control inspections. I supervise and/or install equipment

modifications; complete maintenance and supply forms. TO keep the systems

operational I calibrate the radar systems, organizational maintenance, and

perform antenna alignment test sets. I also manage the radar repair parts

list and review and consolidate requisitions for tools, repair parts,

technical supplies, publications, and equipment. I also coordinate

technical support to include meteorological and survey.

Additional Information/Military Service

Deployment Time:

1. I deployed to Iraq 3 times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, (OIF

04-05 / 07-08 / 10-11) for a total of 39 months. My last deployment to Iraq

was with 1st Armored Division Headquarters serving as a Division level

Field Artillery Intelligence Officer and as a Division Targeting Officer

for the Baghdad Fusion Cell. I also served as the BFC Operations Officer-

Baghdad Fusion Cell (BFC) Operations Officer for United States Division-

Center/1st Armored Division in the Iraqi Theater of Operations. I was in

charge of Plans, coordination, and initiation of Time Sensitive Targeting

as it pertains to High Value Individuals within USD-C Operational

Environment. I was responsible for the synchronization and execution of

Signals Intelligence and assault force operations against USD-C and Baghdad

Operations Command (BOC) high value individuals (HVIs). I Coordinated

support for National Level Intelligence support to Find, Fix, and Finish

HVIs. During this time I supervised a staff of 35 personnel that includes

10 Brigade Combat Team Liaison Officers (BCT LNO), adjacent Task Force and

Special Operational Forces' LNO's, joint and inter-agency intelligence

personnel. On a daily basis I interfaced with the Joint Forces Special

Operational Command Center-Iraq (JFSOCC-I) and Iraqi Operations and

Coordination Group (IOCG) to ensure that USSF operations were coordinated,

approved and disseminated with the BOC. In order to conduct this position

effectively I synchronized and de-conflicted targeting efforts directed

against al-Qaeda and violent extremist networks. I also served as the

Division Field Artillery Intelligence Officer for USD-C facilitating

targeting at all echelons. Interface with high ranking US Forces (USF) and

Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) to ensure proper targeting communication in

combined USD-C Area of Responsibility.

2. During my second deployment I served as a Fires Brigade level Counter-

fire Officer and a Targeting Officer for 15 months were I was deployed as

part of the OIF Surge. I provided the 3ID Division Commander real-time

Collateral Damage Estimations for US arsenal weaponry at a critical turning

point in the war. This ensured all fires were in accordance with the Law of

Armed Conflict (LOAC) rules of engagement. I also monitored enemy fires by

managing 2x AN/TPQ-37 radar systems and 3x AN/TPQ-36 fire finder radars

along with an Aerostat J-Lens Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and 1x Light

counter mortar radar (LCMR). I assisted 2x SOF ODA teams by maintaining

their LCMR and providing my expertise while it was in operation. Working

alongside the Georgian Army, I assisted with setting Friendly fire zones

and established free fire areas in order for them to properly test, certify

and employ their mortar systems.

3. My first deployment to Iraq I served as a Q-37 Radar Section Leader for

12 months. I supervised and assisted a crew of 12 men ensuring the

operation of the fire finder radar system. This radar system covered the

Camp Taji, Iraq area, guaranteeing the camp and the coalition forces safety

from possibly enemy fires and allowing the counter-battery fire to return

accurate and predicted artillery volleys.

4. As an Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of a crew no less than 10 men,

I also deployed to Camp Able Sentry, Macedonia where I served as the Senior

Guard force leader in charge of the security for the entire supply camp.

Lastly, again as an NCO I deployed to Bosnia in 1995-1996 for a

consecutive12 months where I served as a Field Artillery Howitzer Gun

Section Chief and again in 1997-1998 for 6 months.

Awards:

I earned 3 Bronze Stars for my service while deployed in support of

Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-06, 07-08 and 10-11. Over the past 18 years I

have also acquired 2 Army Commendation medals and 8 Army Achievement Medals

and 3 Good Conduct Medals for my time as an enlisted man/NCO. I am also the

proud recipient of the Honorable Order of St. Barbara Award, the patron

saint for the Field Artillery.

Schools and certifications:

I am scheduled for the Warrant officer Staff Course held at Fort Rucker,

AL. where I will learn the Instructor Training Course, Small Group

Instructor Course, Systems Approach to Training Course, Force Integration

Course, Senior Leadership Development Course and the Middle Level Manager

computer software. I am also certified to instruct and operate the

precision-strike suite special operations force (PSS-SOF) computer program.
