1. Duties: As a Division level Field Artillery Intelligence Officer I serve
as Fire Support Element (FSE) representative in the all-source production
center (ASPC). I Inform the Commander of fire support intelligence
requirements; for example, high-payoff targets and indicators. I also
screen and segregate combat information, weather, and intelligence in the
ASPC for use in fire support targeting. I then pass targets developed by
the ASPC to the FS cell. Coordinate cueing of target acquisition resources
under ASPC control with the FS cell. Advise the Commander on fire support
and target acquisition matters.
In a brigade I analyze targets for possible engagement by nuclear and toxic
chemical weapons, as directed by the Assistant Fire Support Coordinator
(AFSCOORD); plan interdiction targets for attack by conventional, nuclear,
and chemical fires or weapons. I perform detailed target analysis and aim-
point refinement as part of the planning effort. I also provide technical
expertise regarding limiting requirements, troop safety, collateral damage
preclusion, and effects of enemy/friendly weapon systems.
2. As a Targeting officer my duties are the related tasks and systems that
provide collective and coordinated use of Army indirect fires, joint fires,
and command and control warfare, including non-lethal fires, through the
targeting process. It includes tasks associated with integrating and
synchronizing the effects of these types of fires and command and control
warfare-including nonlethal fires- with the effects of other war fighting
functions. These are integrated into the concept of operations during
planning and adjusted based on the targeting guidance. Fires normally
contribute to the overall effect of maneuver but commanders may use them
separately for the decisive operation and shaping operations. The fires war
fighting function includes the following tasks:
. Decide surface targets.
. Detect and locate surface targets.
. Provide fire support.
. Assess effectiveness.
. Integrate command and control warfare, including nonlethal fires.
3. As a Radar section leader/Radar technician I advise the commander and
staff of tactical and technical considerations affecting employment of the
radar. I troubleshoot the Ground Based Sensor and FIREFINDER radar
assemblies, sub-assemblies, modular and circuit elements with common and
system-peculiar test equipment for deficiencies and malfunctions. I also
repair, remove, and/or replace defective components and parts of these
systems. I inspect, test, and adjust system components and test equipment
to specific tolerances. The end result is I determine serviceability and
disposition of GBS and FIREFINDER radar system assemblies, sub-assemblies,
and parts. I also perform initial, in-process, on-site technical and
quality control inspections. I supervise and/or install equipment
modifications; complete maintenance and supply forms. TO keep the systems
operational I calibrate the radar systems, organizational maintenance, and
perform antenna alignment test sets. I also manage the radar repair parts
list and review and consolidate requisitions for tools, repair parts,
technical supplies, publications, and equipment. I also coordinate
technical support to include meteorological and survey.

Environment. I was responsible for the synchronization and execution of
Signals Intelligence and assault force operations against USD-C and Baghdad
Operations Command (BOC) high value individuals (HVIs). I Coordinated
support for National Level Intelligence support to Find, Fix, and Finish
HVIs. During this time I supervised a staff of 35 personnel that includes
10 Brigade Combat Team Liaison Officers (BCT LNO), adjacent Task Force and
Special Operational Forces' LNO's, joint and inter-agency intelligence
personnel. On a daily basis I interfaced with the Joint Forces Special
Operational Command Center-Iraq (JFSOCC-I) and Iraqi Operations and
Coordination Group (IOCG) to ensure that USSF operations were coordinated,
approved and disseminated with the BOC. In order to conduct this position
effectively I synchronized and de-conflicted targeting efforts directed
against al-Qaeda and violent extremist networks. I also served as the

managing 2x AN/TPQ-37 radar systems and 3x AN/TPQ-36 fire finder radars
along with an Aerostat J-Lens Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and 1x Light

and employ their mortar systems.

accurate and predicted artillery volleys.
