Ref Code: Executive Management/Technical Lead Mechanical Engineering
Position
Dear Human Resources Director,
This letter is to inform you that I am in the process of investigating the
possibilities of finding a suitable senior management/professional
technical/ engineering position in a manufacturing/engineering environment
in industry preferably related to the mechanical/ structural design and
analysis, rotor dynamics, finite element analysis of mechanical/structural
components/systems, reliability design engineering, vibration analysis, etc
of mechanical power transmission products or turbo machinery (pumps,
compressors, turbines, generators, motors, engines, fans, etc). I have
enacted in engineering management and project engineering/management
capacities in the past as well as applications engineering, R & D
engineering and consulting.
I do have excellent business and leadership skills which have been
evaluated and judged by the end results, not just by the financial figures
but also by the employee and customer satisfaction as well. I am a self-
starter, self-motivated, do have excellent oral and written communication
skills and am computer literate. I do also have excellent problem-solving
skills, possess a technically-oriented business mind and enjoy working in a
team environment of highly-skilled professionals.
My industrial experiences have been in connection with processing,
automotive power transmission and heavy rotating machinery industries. In
1997 I decided to join ABB Fan Group N.A. in Niles, Michigan which was
engaged in the design, development and manufacture of custom-made heavy-
duty industrial fan systems for applications in the power generation,
metals, cement plants and chemical/ petrochemical industries. Applications
in coal pulverizing, refinery and utility were considered. Some designs
were for high temperature, high pressure, corrosive and abrasive
environments with high-speed applications and aerodynamic design
considerations.
From 1999 to 2001 I was associated with the Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering Department of The George Washington University as a visiting
senior staff/consultant. From January to September of 2002 I was engaged in
a consulting project assignment for an AC induction electric motor
manufacturer overseas. From 2002 to 2008 I was engaged in my own consulting
firm investigating rotating and reciprocating machinery on vibration,
design, failure problems and faulty manufacturing issues. From 2008 to 2009
I acted as a senior consultant resolving issues related to various types of
machinery on their design and maintenance at ExxonMobil-Joliet Refinery.
There have been three distinctive aspects on the rotating
equipment/machinery that I have been involved with. Firstly, I have been
directly involved with the detailed design work, that means, design of the
shaft, selection of the bearings, couplings, motors or v-belt drives,
analysis, testing, quality issues and requisition order processing of a
number of products manufactured by OEM's and contracted by general
engineering contractors such as Bechtel, Black & Veatch, Baker Hughes, UOP
and a number of Korean, Japanese and Middle-Eastern companies. The products
designed in this category have been electric motors, generators, gears,
pumps (centrifugal), compressors (centrifugal) and industrial fans anywhere
from fraction of horse powers to 1500 HP.
Secondly, we have also been visiting chemical/petrochemical/power plants
and refineries to resolve issues such as bearings malfunctioning, high
shaft vibrations, sealing defects, in some cases high noises etc. Thirdly,
we have acted as sub-subcontractors on some of the rotating equipment
requisition ordering, checking and purchasing.
The general involvement with rotating equipment has been more than twenty
years either at the design, analysis and manufacturing stage or at the
troubleshooting stage.
My technical and executive management experiences cover managing three
groups of people at three different locations. At Industrial Projects Inc.,
a group of 5-6 engineers (mechanical, civil and chemical) and 4-5 draftsmen
were managed. At Gear Works Inc., I managed a group of twenty-five
engineers, draftsmen and technicians both in the office and at the plant.
Engineers were mostly mechanical and materials engineers. A small group of
3-5 professionals at my own consulting firm also acted as private
consultants.
Attached please find a copy of my resume. I would be privileged to answer
any questions that you may have or provide you with any other information
which you may need and can be reached via the phone number of 630-***-****
(H).
I would like to extend my appreciation for your attention and consideration
and will be looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Saeed Z. Azimi, Ph.D.
