Re: Environmental Scientist
To the Selection Committee,
Having spent my most memorable years hiking and camping in nearby coastal national and provincial parks, it was obvious I
would strive to begin a career in environmental management. I am eager to become part of your organization and contribute
my professional experience and education to its success.
My work experience includes surveying and restoring aquatic fish habitat, the design, implementation and defence of an
environmental research study, conducting operational and project requirements for private sector and government
organizations (Municipal, Province and State), ocean rescue services, leadership/supervision of up to 20 team members, PR
activities, and general labour duties (both outdoors and indoors). I have lived, worked and studied in Canada, Australia and
the United States and adapted well to the cultural differences.
My MEnvSc focused primarily on gaining hands on experience in areas such as GIS, Survey Design, Ecological Restoration
and Monitoring, and Terrestrial, Coastal and Marine Ecology/Conservation. My major research project achieved its
objectives for bringing awareness to the fragility of coastal sandy beaches and creating a simple, yet effective, impact study
to collect benchmark quantitative data for future monitoring activities by the State government, New South Wales, Australia.
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated worker. I have a genuine love of the outdoors and work well in a team environment. I
enjoy travelling and am willing to relocate and travel for business purposes.
Given my academic training, work experience, strong work ethic and interest in pursuing a career in Natural Resource
Management, I believe I would be a very desirable candidate for employment. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to
discuss my resume, future aspirations and how these might be beneficial to your organization. I may be reached by phone at
902-***-**** or e-mail at abh4a9@r.postjobfree.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Patrick L. Scott
