Head of Foreign Exchange

I was promoted to the position of Head of Foreign Exchange in February

2000. It is this position that gave me exposure to management of the Bank

across other products such as Transactional Banking, Corporate and

Institutional Banking and management of the wider teams as a Treasury

management committee member. Being the key risk taker for the Bank through

3 years of some of the most volatile financial markets post 9/11 required a

substantial amount of focus. Management of the team to drive revenue and

build business through a very uncertain time pushed my boundaries and is a

period I look upon as one of my key professional achievements.

2004 I was a Senior Manager responsible for both Sales and Trading

divisions within the bank. Key areas of expertise included:

Monitoring the prudential requirements of the Bank and adjusting

accordingly.

Monitoring and maintaining the liquidity of the Bank, sourcing various

Wholesale/Asian Funding.

Devising plans to optimise the profitability of the Treasury book with

regards to outright position and various curve plays within assigned

limits.

Provide input into the development of Treasury's financial budgets. In

particular, forecasting the income to be achieved from trading various

books.

Liaising with several people both internal and external in regards to

foreign exchange management and Market views. Such groups included sales

and distribution teams, offshore parties, the Reserve Bank of NZ, media

etc.

Facilitating the implementation of various advancements to managing

Treasury risk. .

Managing and employing key staff. I have created and managed a significant

and diverse team of highly driven staff who as a team we have consistently

outperformed revenue and growth targets.

Being a member of the treasury management committee, I have contributed to

the strategic positioning of the bank and the discussion on a wide range of

issues outside of my immediate Financial Markets responsibility. Key areas

such as disaster recovery, regulation, succession planning, technology

investment, staff growth and retrenchment have all been managed first hand
