John Deere (contract), Waterloo, IA

(2010-present)

Turbocharger Engineer assigned to the 13.5 Liter Diesel engine responsible

for supporting engine development for Tier 4 production release. Tasks

include; turbocharger tear down inspections, identifying and resolving root

causes for product validation and engine performance, analysis of engine

and turbocharger performance data, turbocharger matching and air system

modeling.

Navistar Engine Company (contract), Melrose Park, IL

(2008-2009)

Calibration Engineer assigned to the Inline-6 Diesel Performance and

Emissions team. Projects included; current product support, on-highway high

horsepower investigation development, generator set ratings development for

unregulated and Tier 3 and Euro 3 emission levels. Tasks included; defining

and procuring special engine and air system hardware, issuing dynamometer

test plans and project schedules, manipulating engine calibrations using

ETAS INCA tools, engine mapping and DOE testing using MATLAB tools,

documenting and presenting results in weekly meetings.

FEV Engine Technology, (contract), Dearborn, MI

(2007)

Turbocharger Design & Release Engineer responsible for design and

production release of turbocharger and associated hardware for a Direct

Fuel Injected twin turbocharged gasoline engine. Specific tasks included;

defining engineering specifications and packaging requirements, DVP&R

(validation testing), Lead engineer in turbocharger bracket design for

structural integrity (FEA) and NVH reduction.

AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc., Plymouth, MI

(2005 to 2007)

Diesel Development Engineer responsible for engine calibration and ratings

development. Specific tasks included; defining engine hardware

requirements, single cylinder combustion development for Tier 4 emission

levels, writing and issuing dynamometer test plans, data analysis and DOE

testing using AVL tools, managing test cell setup and resources in meeting

customer performance and emissions specification.

Caterpillar (contract), Lafayette, IN

(2004 to 2005)

Development Engineer assigned to a unique twin compressor turbocharger.

Specific tasks included; performance map stand testing, prototype hardware

builds and assembly procedures, analysis of turbocharger and engine

performance using engine simulation tools (973) to specify turbocharger

aerodynamic requirements as applied to Caterpillar engines.

Rolls-Royce Corp. (contract), Indianapolis, IN

(2003 -2004)

Development Program Engineer assigned to the T56 gas turbine engine used in

military applications (C130). Managed engineering resources, engine builds,

and outlined test plans for Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).

CUMMINS INC., Columbus, IN

(2000 - 2003)

Performance Development Engineer of Diesel and Natural Gas Engines (11-45

Liter) used for power generation applications. Assignments included the

QSX15 (Certified Tier 1 and 2 emissions), QSK23 (Tier 1 emissions) and

QSK45 natural gas to meet low Nox emissions. Skills used in modeling engine

to predict performance using engine simulation software (TRANSENG). Managed

test cell work flow and scheduling of project assignments. Led calibration

and design reviews and authored technical reports. Performance development

skills in defining turbocharger, fuel system hardware, and engine

calibration in meeting performance, durability and emissions

specifications.

HOLSET (subsidiary of Cummins), Columbus, IN

(1998 -2000)

Turbocharger Application Engineer as applied to Diesel and Natural Gas

Engines. Specific tasks included; defining turbocharger technical

specifications per customer requirements, utilization of engine simulation

tools (TRANSENG) to match turbocharger and evaluate performance, outlined

compressor and turbine map stand testing to evaluate turbocharger

performance and mechanical integrity.

turbine engines. Specific tasks included; Modeling, analysis and testing of

reliability. Design of test fixtures and data acquisition/instrumentation

set up as applied to testing hydraulic cylinders.

Design Engineer and manufacturing support of industrial rooftop air

conditioning systems (20-60 ton units), heat exchangers, and air handling

equipment. Specific tasks included; generation of BOM, design of sheetmetal
