. Successfully pursued grant funds and opportunities:
1. $25,000 from NRCS for grazing project.
2. $2500 from New Hampshire Department of Agriculture for wetland lane
crossings.
. Developed existing 28-member stakeholders' advisory board consisting of
farmers and industry representatives.
. Coordinated ARS researchers from Maine and Pennsylvania to develop soil
testing and vegetative databases for the Burley-Demerritt Farm and all
production fields.
. Provided in-depth advising on all infrastructure for the farm, including
buildings, fencing, and laneways and contingency plans for housing and
milking cows.
. Participated in acquisition of 48 Jersey heifers with nationally
recognized genetics. Value of donated heifers and money for heifer
purchases ($50,000).
. Promoted the UNH Organic Dairy Farm at conferences with farmers and
industry leaders.
. Coordinated farm budget development.
. Managed organic certification with staff, researchers, and NHDAMF
certifier.
. Initiated and managed intensive rotational grazing program for cattle.
. Researched machinery needs for the Organic Dairy Farm and Farm Services
to improve productivity and feed quality.
. Assessed deficiencies in crop and forage production systems and provided
recommendations for improvements to ensure livestock health and
productivity.
. Coordinated purchase and delivery of organic feed required for
certification of organic herd.
