May 2005 to Nov 2009 (2nd shift sonority lay off) No union
Position: Operation Production/Shipping
Plant Supervisor
(swing shift/shipping/production/maintenance)
Achievements: Improved slitter changeovers from 47
minutes down to 7 minute average changeover times. Many great ideas that
helped operators, helpers and setup men do their jobs easier which
succeeded change over times. Designed and helped maintenance team build all
new work stations throughout plant (with all tools needed) for fewer worker
foot prints resulting in less stressed employees and more safe productive
employees. Ordered shop supplies from several different vendors and
suppliers for all departments. Continuous improvement programs every month
with meeting with all crews. Safety meetings held daily with entire shift
crew. 23 full time employees, 2-precision slitters with packaging line, 1-
Cut to Length, 2-CNC Turret presses, 3-bays with 25-ton cranes, 3-drive

Winter 2000 to June 2005 (Hired at New Process Steel)
Position: 2nd shift
Shipping/Production/Maintenance Supervisor
Achievements: Improved operator errors in shipping
and production. Inbound and outbound shipments were improved that later led
to most trucking companies preferring to be loaded and/or unloaded during
2nd shift hours. I purchased my own walkie talkies and rechargeable
batteries to improve communications throughout plant. I spread radios to
all crane operators, fork truck drivers, slitting operators and leveling
operators. This great idea led to improved loading and unloading of trucks,
material spotting and staging, material transfers to machines, skid and
lumber transfers. No more lost times in all departments which led to
increased production on all 4 machines and their packaging lines.

June 1996 to winter 2000 all employees laid off due to Acme
Steel closing its doors
Position: Operator and Setup Man on
brand new Pro/Eco three slitter head, double recoiler 80,000 pound max,
slitter. Gauge range .040" to .500". I left a Supervisor position at
Loeffel Steel Products to join a new start up company in hope of a
Supervisor Position.
Achievements: Broke all productions records in Acme
Steel and all of National Material (Cyrus Tang Industries). Ran 1,800,000
pounds in 8 hours, 43 coils in 8 hours, 75 passes in 8 hours with no lost
time from crane operators loading and/or unloading machine. First operator
to successfully run hot 280 degree 1080 grade hot roll agricultural steel
without it breaking apart at recoiler gripper. I worked very hard
continuously proving my experience and capabilities in production and
organization skills to have the opportunity at a supervisor position but
new supervisors were replaced by National Material Supervisors from other
plants and then entire plant laid off from Acme Steel closing its doors.

Slitter Setup/Operations Consultant 2008 to most of 2009
I was offered a contract by Operations Plant Manager at Metal-Matic as a
Slitter Consultant but could not dedicate time requested due to working
full time at New Process Steel. I made a deal to go help on a "walk in
basis". I gave presentations to all crews on improvement ideas. Recognized
some issues and helped Plant Coordinator schedule equipment to be rebuilt.
Trained employees on mathematical formula procedures that would result in
error free setups and helped Plant Coordinator build micros excel spread
sheet that would help build proper accurate setups for crews. I was
complimented by crews and Operations Plant Manager on slit edge quality of
stock coils waiting for further processing in tube mills. I was unable to
go back due to a serious decline in sales orders at my current job (New
Process Steel) and was scheduled 2pm to 2am.
