Work Experience
2008 - 2010 Project Designer, Mackin Engineering Company, Pittsburgh, PA
. Conducted 15 hydrologic and hydraulic studies of streams in
support of bridge designs.
2000 - 2008 Project Engineer, Evans Engineering Inc., Harrisburg, PA
. Completed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of 10 watersheds,
with floodplain mapping.
. Supervised storm and sewer drain audits at approximately 20
facilities to determine locations of all regulatory non-
compliance, and prepared action plans where necessary.
. Designed combined detention basin / engineered wetland for an
industrial client.
. Completed land development, stormwater management, and erosion
and sediment control design for over 30 sites, including PA Act
167 and NPDES compliance.
. Generated 5 CLOMR applications for several clients based on
stream hydraulic analyses.
. Conducted engineering analysis of a dam failure. Determined
that substandard materials were used in embankment construction
and that the primary outflow structure was improperly
constructed.
. Supervised junior engineers and draftsmen during land
development plan preparation.
2000. Design Engineer - in - Training, Whitney, Bailey, Cox, &
Magnani, LLP., Towson, MD
. Conducted dam breach analysis and danger reach mapping of 3 dams
for normal and PMF conditions. Developed the Emergency Action
Plan for one dam.
. Completed remedial design for a privately owned dam, including a
baffled chute primary spillway and articulating concrete block
mat revetment.
. Responsible for stormwater hydrology, sanitary flow, and water
supply calculations for several residential subdivisions in PA
and MD.
1999 Project Engineer, Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc., Towson, MD
. Developed calibrated hydraulic models of the Whitemarsh Run and
other watersheds.
. Designed stream restoration of portions of Whitemarsh Run.
. Responsible for stormwater management designs for several
subdivisions.
1989 - 1998 Project Scientist, R.E. Wright Environmental, Inc. (an SAIC
Company), Middletown, PA
. Developed and executed RCRA Facility Investigation Work Plans
for industrial clients. Completed data validation procedures
for the investigations.
. Completed over 100 Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
nationwide which met or exceeded ASTM E-1527. Completed
numerous Phase II Assessments.
. Designed 7 karst aquifer dye trace studies to determine
groundwater discharge points for industrial clients and the PA
Department of Environmental Protection.
. Designed the leachate collection and surface water drainage
systems for the first hazardous waste landfill in PA. Provided
continuous construction quality supervision of the entire
landfill construction.
. Completed design of 6 vapor trap devices to prevent airflow and
allow extraction of gasoline vapors from a storm sewer line
located in a schoolyard.
1987 - 1989 Hydrologist, US Environmental Protection Agency, Region II, New
York, NY
. Developed and reviewed hazardous waste treatment, storage, and
disposal facility engineering designs and permits under RCRA.
1987 Hydrologic Technician, USDA Forest Service, Tongass National Forest,
Sitka, AK
. Conducted stream channel geomorphology and riparian zone plant
surveys.
