over 1200 military personnel assigned to the command. Created categorized

statistical military personnel strength reports that reflected the current

authorized assigned and attached personnel based on projected gains and

losses, and distribution of the military personnel by Military Occupations

Specialty (MOS). The reports were instrumental during the restructuring of

the command in 1986 that incorporated the Army Adjutant General Center,

Personnel Information Systems Command and their Field Operating Agencies.

Assisted in the creation of the agency's first Military Personnel Alpha

Roster Database using a first generation database program, "Mapper".

Provided assistance to military personnel applying for various military

schools, military pay, leave, and pass requests, and reviewed personnel

records for promotions and for permanent change of station (PCS) moves.

Supervised 5 subordinate military personnel. During this time the first

generation of network type desktop computers and systems were being

introduced throughout the Army to aid in the development of the

standardization of personnel requisition and strength accounting to

eventually replace the paper computer punch cards. Accordingly, the new

systems were used to compile data for management decisions to maintain the

Army personnel strength at operational capacity. Additional duty

assignment as the Divisional Database Operations Administrator and Terminal

Area Security Officer conducting system backups and provided military and

civilian personnel desktop computer training.

assistance to the Company Commander and 50 assigned Army personnel.

Company liaison for the Company Commander and the Installation Personnel

Administrative Center (PAC). Provided daily briefings to the Company

Commander and First Sergeant during the morning staff sessions to include

the Change of Quarters (CQ) activities. Briefed and debriefed the CQ. As

the SIDPERS Clerk reviewed, assisted and processed applications for

military schools, military pay, leave and pass requests, promotions, and

permanent change of station (PCS) requests. After graduating from the

Advanced Individual Training (AIT) School located at Fort Benjamin

Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana this first Army assignment was one of

unexpected challenge due to the HHC, HISA being historically the worst

agency on post for properly administering personnel strength

accountability. The first task undertaken was to restore an effective line

of communication between the unit and the installation Finance and

Personnel Office and properly document all personnel actions in accordance

with Army policy and procedures. It contributed to reducing late military

pay changes and reversing the SIDPERS operation from one of the most

inaccurate on the installation to the best. Being selected as the SIDPERS

clerk for January and February 1985 and SIDPERS clerk of the first quarter

of the 1985 calendar year noted this achievement.
