WORK EXPERIENCE
Home Infusion Facilitator
August 2009 - November 2010
St. John's Hospital Home Infusion Springfield IL
While in this position I finished my BSN and completed the ONS Chemotherapy
and Biotherapy Course. I worked as part of a team to educate patients on
home IV therapy in the home and maintenance of their central lines.
In the facilitator position I worked as part of a team with 2 other nurses.
We would get the referral and check insurance benefits. Then we would get
the doctors orders and go to the hospital and teach the patient one on one
about the drug and the delivery method. We used ambulatory infusion pumps.
We also managed PCA pumps. We would call patients at home to see how they
were doing and answered phone calls from patients. The infusion nurses
worked closely with the home infusion pharmacists to assure the antibiotics
and pain medications as well as chemotherapy were correct. We obtain labs
as ordered and called the results to the doctors.
