JOB DESCRIPTION:
Maintain the network integrity with consistent quality, monitoring and
operating different transmission suites ensuring coherent and stylish
presentation to viewers; continual technical quality assessment of all
signals (both backhaul and internally generated) effecting appropriate
action if signals fall below the set quality thresholds; monitor and
control all remote facilities in the network and to ensure quality to meet
broadcast standard.
ROLE PURPOSE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Operation of all applicable equipment: Harris, Omnibus (G3), and Playbox
(AirBox 4.0) automation, Sea change and Omneon video servers, Miranda
Presmaster and Image store, Pro-bel routers, Sony VTR's and Flexicart,
system ensuring that the highest standards are adhered to.
. Responsible for performing on-air and server operation; handling
programme material fill-in, recording, tape compilation transfer and
dubbing; ensuring tapes and files quality to meet broadcast standard.
. Check transmission schedules/playlist, ensure material is available for
transmission and liaise with scheduling staff regarding continuity.
. Do linefeed recordings and dubbing of media materials using VTR's.
. Involve in preparing technical documentations for training purposes; both
on self-explored and formally conducted training.
. Monitor multiple networks for on air correctness and quality 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week.
. Operate master control automation software, ensuring it is programmed and
running properly. Have the ability of doing multi tasking.
. Operate master control switcher in a live environment at the direction of
Arabic services coordinators.
. Interact with automation software, making changes to the on air schedule
when necessary to ensure continuity in the on air product.
. Prepare/Maintain Shift Operational and Technical Reports and coordinate
with next-shift colleagues to ensure all details are captured and
understood within the MCR and NOC at all times.
. Carry all ingest requirements as it's raised and planned for using the
operational processes and and workflows standards and protocols.
HIGHLIGHTS OF QUALIFICATION:
BROADCAST AUTOMATION OPERATOR /SCHEDULER
. Ensures the correct routing ( on the digital matrix router ) of
video/audio feeds and coordinates such matters with the TOC personnel-on-
duty.
. Performs server disk space, checking and deletion of expired program
materials/assets from the broadcast media server as necessary.
. Handles creation of assets based on material release forms and performs
ingestion of those program materials and live program feeds and ensuring
proper asset properties.
. Performs video bulking (linear-editing) and quality checking of newly
ingested program materials using the Etere Automation. Programs such as
recorded live feeds of sports events, Entertainment, Talk shows, Movies,
commercial ads and channel plugs.
. Encodes the daily playlist on the Presentation Editor of the Etere
Automation, based on the Daily Operations Log ( DOL) received from the
Programming department; also encodes the advanced playlist / DOLS's
through the Alternated Scheduling utility of the Etere Automation.
. Performs program continuity switching, between programs and commercial
insertions, of the daily live sports telecast such as PGA Championships,
NASCAR, NBA, MLB, NFL & AFL, and also other In-door & Out-door sports
such as billiards, soccer, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball etc.
. Handles creation of online text crawlers and other similar informative
texts through the toaster CG. Prepares particular graphics and Targa
graphic sequences to be superimposed on the on-air video of the channel.
. Ensures that all activities accomplished during the day's shift are
recorded on our performance logbook.
. Create incident reports when abnormal circumstance occur and submit it to
our broadcast supervisor.
