CAREER STATEMENT: I have a wealth of experience in areas of design and
construction. Throughout my career, I have been able to positively connect
with virtually every individual that I have encountered in business. In my
various positions, I have developed innovative, cost-effective solutions to
a broad range of problems.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
05/1998 to present Lowe's Companies, Inc. Wilkesboro, NC and
Carlsbad, CA
Director of Engineering & Construction - NC - 03/2007 to present
Develop criteria construction documents for domestic and
international projects. Disciplines include fire protection, PM &
E, structural, architectural, and civil. Manage overall stormwater
compliance program. Screen and qualify general contractors.
Through the National Accounts program and R & D function, new
construction costs have been reduced by $31 million since '07. This
program includes the following products and services: lighting,
electrical switchgear, signage, RTU's, building commissioning,
emergency generators, roofing, fire pumps, concrete finishing
system, cable tray, and fire protection consultant services.
Supervise staff of twelve.
Director of Engineering & Construction - CA - 05/2002 to 03/2007
Responsible for bidding, construction document development, and
construction administration of big box retail outlets in twelve
western states. During the five years I managed this department,
was able to re-staff; and train six of the eight departmental
members while continuing to meet store opening goals. Opened 135
stores during this period.
Sr. Engineering Manager- NC - 05/1998 to 05/2002
Was instrumental in developing
rational structural systems for new prototype retail buildings,
ranging up to 130k sq. ft. Implemented innovative designs
effectively reducing overall steel cost on standard buildings.
Reviewed outsourced designs of same structure types.
10/1996 to 05/1998 BETCO, Inc. Statesville, NC
Chief Engineer
In charge of all drafting, design, and bills of material necessary
for fabrication and construction of metal buildings. Utilized AISC,
ACI, AISI, masonry code and all national building codes in the
design of retaining walls, masonry firewalls, foundations, and all
other aspects of completed buildings. Led the design effort in
developing new, architecturally appealing, light-gauge structures
that were added to the product line without capital expenditures.

Project Engineer
Responsible for drafting, bidding, budgeting, scheduling,
specification and construction management of capital expenditure and
general maintenance projects. Typical projects consisted of
equipment installation, building additions, new building
construction; and facilities maintenance. I was able to bring in
all projects on time, and within budget.
09/1986 to 11/1992 Boddie-Noell, Inc. Rocky Mount,
NC
Director of Site Development
Managed all phases of site engineering, permitting, and utilities
design necessary for commercial restaurant development. Served as
construction manager on various grading, demolition, and
environmental remediation projects. Played a key role in logo
signage identification roll-out program as manager of the National
Account sign company.

Designed fabricated metal products for various applications.

Manager of Engineering
In charge of all product design, drafting, quality control, and
product development necessary for the manufacture of aluminum light
poles and related products. Interacted with sales force to develop
products that met customer needs, and to resolve field related
problems. Played a key role in developing updated technical
materials that were the major focus of moving to new advertising
media. Brought several new and improved products to market;
including a new square aluminum pole line; and also made major
improvements to conventional round pole lines in the form of
increased fatigue resistance.

Field engineer on pressure vessels, oil storage tanks, and nuclear
containment vessels. Duties included layout, quality control
inspection, and welding. Designed similar structures per various
national codes; including AISC, ASME, API, and AWWA.
