Nortel was a major Telecommunications Company, best known for
competing, as then primarily a Canadian market company, with
Lucent Technology and successfully winning half of the US
Telco market business. Nortel went on to be a major
International Telecommunications player up until the
Telecommunications market bust starting in 2004. At the peak
of its success, Nortel's Operator Services business had
annual revenues over $100M.
Operator Services Business Line Manager 1999 to March 2005
. Developed corporate strategy and business plans for the
Operator Services Business

. Wrote Business Plans to justify new product opportunities
and on going expenses

Project Manager - BT FAS ( British Telecom Fiber Access System)
1989 to 1991
. Put together the plan to meet the BT schedule. This
project was a bake off against Lucent Technology. The
project was actively support by the Nortel President of
switching, and the VP for Switching Operations. I reported
directly to the VP of Operations.
. Spent a year travel between the Nortel office in Raleigh
and our office in England, working with the Design Team and
the customer to validate our design concepts
. After one year, Nortel deliver the product on time to spec.
Lucent did not.
Project Engineer - Automated Line Card Cabinet Testing 1987 to 1989
. Worked with the Engineering staff to design a test system
for testing fully load cabinets, with various card
configurations, where the cabinets could be heated to test
temperature and run through a series of test before the
loaded cabinets were approved for shipment to a customer.
The test interface included interfaces to the module
quality MIS system.
Project Engineer - Automated Line Card Manufacturing 1984 to 1987
. Wrote the programs for the IBM Robots and the Allen Brady
line controllers that allowed the system to feed blank
cards into the conveying system and have the robots insert
the necessary "through hole" components needed on the card
. Wrote the program to detect insertion problems, eject
problem cards to a troubleshooter and record the problem by
line card serial number in a quality tracking system
. Wrote the information system program that gave Management a
problem report by card serial number, after every shift,
and feed information into a display system which instantly
updated quality status information
. By the end of 1985, the start up production lines had
achieved their target of producing 100,000 line cards per
week.
Proctor & Gamble, Inc. Mehoopany, PA
P&G is a multinational manufacturer of personal use and home
use products with worldwide sales. Mehoopany is a Pulp and
Paper plant combined with a major Paper Products
manufacturing plant. It is P&G largest manufacturing complex
world wide.
Electical Engineering - Plant Manager 1982 to 1984
Directed the upgrade of the Plant Electrical System (medium
and low voltage systems), and the replacement of the outdated
plant PBX system with a Nortel PBX system.
. Delivered upgrades on time and on budget with no reportable
injuries
Luvs Start up -Module Manager 1979 to 1981
Directed all new product start up activities (2 start up
lines) including planning, staffing, project reporting,
management progress reporting, and budget tracking.
. Supervised staff of 80 personal to included line operators,
construction engineers, quality monitors, and design
support personnel.
. Completed project on time and on budget, with no serious
injuries.
. This project paid for itself in less than one year after
start up
Pampers - Module Manager 1977 to 1979

production operation that produced 300 Million diapers a
