Designed and developed a manufacturing system for home column fabrication. This system
originated from UML in MS Visio and was produced with Visual Studio.NET and AJAX. The
end result was a website to that enabled every sector of plant management to monitor
inventories, material usage, production and downtime in real time via a web browser. Several
additional application where written to manage synchronization and tasks of six robots and
RFID readers via TCP/IP protocols and a SQL Server 2000 database.
Designed and developed 3 tier .NET application used in DNA storage and retrieval process for
Life Sciences industry. The project consisted of 3 web services, 2 of which where public the 3rd
acting as the DataLayer to an Oracle and or SQL 2000 database. Developed all stored
procedures and triggers for each respective database. Also created a VB.Net application to
retrieve client requests from the web services and communicate those to an adept robot via
TCP/IP. Created unique protocol structure for PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and robot
controller communications. Included in this application was Crystal reporting capabilities that
allowed an operator to track and audit DNA locations within the system.
Created company intranet to manage employees in and out of the office and publish that
information to the Internet via XML for in the field managers. Also created web based cost
process crystal reports that integrated into the time management section of the intranet. This
allowed managers to view up to the minute cost associated with any project in motion.
Created Serial driver with vb.net to interface with legacy storage module. Adding a VB.Net
application that was touch screen ready to catalog and store parts locations within the storage
module. Database used was Access 2000. Also added several crystal reports to the GUI to
allow inventory control to manage and restock the module(s).
What is an Automation Specialist? – An automation specialist is a different breed of developer
that integrates software technology with vision inspection and robotic handling of material for
any number of industries from pharmaceutical to food packaging to automotive parts and
production lines. Having a strong understanding of low level graphics functions, photography
lighting, electrical wiring logic, various modes of device communication and a systems design
life cycle. Combining all of these complex and intricate modules to produce an end user
application that demands down time be no greater that 1% for three years (the 1% being for
regularly scheduled maintenance standard). Additionally, an automation specialist must be able
to effectively identify a manufacturing process, convey this understanding to the client and be
able identify target areas of the process for modification.
American Financial Group Inc. 2001 2002

Designed and developed web integration for the American Financial Group intranet Specialty
Claims division. The application allowed members of the specialty claims group to search
FileNet indexed documents and view them in a custom enterprise viewer. The enterprise viewer
allows change of annotations based on security clearance. The viewer gives the user the ability
to view annotations and move to pages with specific annotations of interest without having to
load any unnecessary pages limiting the load network traffic produced by the idmObjects.
Designed and developed a replacement object for the FileNet remote print fax object with a
COM control that communicates via SOAP to an IIS web service. This allowed true remote
printing from the corporate intranet with no installation of any client applications.
Designed and developed a search and retrieval web based application which gives the user the
ability to search FileNet via an Oracle database on predefined fields and view the results. Once
results are returned the users can perform one of several functions that are made available to
them based on their security clearance.
The above sited projects included the use and integration of: MAPI, POP, SMTP, Lotus Notes,
Microsoft Outlook, FileNet IDM objects, FileNet IDM viewer, ASP, JavaScript, HTML, XML,
Visual Basic, SourceSafe, Macromedia DreamWeaver, Visual Interdev, and BlackIce.
