Professional Experience
Financial Analysis and Activity Oversight
. To ensure that the right projects are accomplished in the right places
in support of retention and to drive growth, created a single, real
time accessible system to provide oversight of $8.6M spend over 46
states, 13 regions, 12 companies, 6 major products, 4 distribution
channels, and 2 processing platforms. System is the planning and
measurement source for Product, Pricing, Compliance, Regions, and
Systems for Personal Lines.
. Successfully implemented, standardized, and automated an end-to-end
information gathering process for overseeing and reporting on over 500
projects at any one time.
. Developed standardized template on which to build budgets and plan
activity. Received feedback that the users finally understood the
budget and what activities they could support and accomplish.
. Developed a state by state view of all active Property systems
projects. Report is a "single version of the truth" that has brought
alignment among Systems, Product, Pricing, and State teams.
. Designed and managed priority schedules to keep track of the projects
across the four policy processing systems. Schedule document is data
dense, continuously available to executive team, and clearly records
and communicates to all stakeholders what the priorities are and why.
. Developed process to communicate the initiation of new projects to
every audience within the enterprise with a stake in the outcome.
. Fostered alignment over multiple departments to enhance cooperation
resulting in on-time, on-budget implementation of rate projects
affecting DWP uplift, and regulatory projects ensuring compliance with
laws and regulations.
. Increased engagement of Pricing, Compliance, Requirements, Product,
Regions, and Systems to create an atmosphere of cooperation and timely

This increased engagement reduced the number, length, number of

SAP / GAAP
. Created complete billing system using Excel. System computed and kept
track of all premiums due, payments made, due dates, and aging in
support of SAP reporting requirements.
. Created system to accumulate and report development of all losses,
their paid and reserve components for both loss and LAE by line and by
year for all products including both calendar and accident year loss
rations for reporting on Schedule P on an annual basis and Part III on
monthly and quarterly basis.
. In search of capital for an insurance company, developed multiple full
business plans on SAP basis (for insurance company) and GAAP basis
(for holding company) for presentation to investment banking community
in New York and Boston.
. Completed, signed, and filed the NAIC yellow statement on a monthly,
quarterly, and annual basis for 9 years.
. Authored MD&A for NAIC filings
. Framed and presented financial statements and issues, reinsurance
contracts and alternatives, GAAP vs. SAP vs. Cash decisions to Board
of Directors.
Project Management
. Maryland Binder Project: Lead team that restored the underwriting
window for Property lines after years without this protection.
Project delivered on time and under budget.
. MSB: Lead team that upgraded this vendor provided tool to calculate
reconstruction costs for Property. Implemented the introduction of
three new costs that positively affected our Insurance-To-Value
status, increased DWP, and brought premiums more in line with the risk
assumed.
. Analyzed and developed all information and presentations necessary to
negotiate reinsurance treaties including capital structure and limits
profiles. Re-negotiated treaties that increased coverage while
reducing cost by 49%. Developed and managed the processes required to
transfer from a quota share with one reinsurer to an excess of loss
with another.
. Managed the liquidation of Proliance Insurance in concert with the
Office of Liquidation and the Ohio Department of Insurance. Organized
and led the team in the seamless transfer of all policies to a new
carrier. No policyholder lost any money and all claims were fully
paid.
