OBJECTIVE

A challenging mechanical engineering position that focuses on the

design and analysis of Centrifugal Pumps.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Nuclear Mechanical Project Engineer, Flow Solutions Group

2005-Present Flowserve Corporation, Los Angeles, California

. Generated engineering proposals and executed engineering projects of

centrifugal pump designs for domestic and international nuclear power

plants including the newly designed Westinghouse's AP1000, Areva's

EPR, U.S. and Japanese PWR & BWR nuclear plants.

. Performed analytical tasks to demonstrate soundness of pump design,

including engineering design calculations, analysis, design layout,

assembly drawings, models and material selection. Analyzed blueprints,

plans, schematics, P&IDs and other customer technical and commercial

specifications to develop and prepare proposals and cost estimates to

insure they are acceptable relative to technical engineering details,

commercial terms, price, delivery and project scope.

. Investigated and examined customer's problems and recommend technical

and practical solutions to improve the designs for the benefit of the

customer.

. Interacted with and supported customers, sales personnel, Project

Engineering team, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering,

Quality Assurance, Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing to facilitate

project flow and to increase the completion rate of the projects and

handing it over to clients.

. Provided technical engineering support and direction to team members.

Trained and coached engineers on tasks such as engineering design,

BOM, material specifications, GD&T, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics,

and Heat Transfer.

. Chaired and facilitated pump engineering design reviews with internal

and external customers. Acted as a source of support during any design

issues and resolutions. Communicated to the project team any potential

cost risks and opportunities.

. Reviewed and evaluated customer engineering purchase orders to insure

they are acceptable relative to technical engineering details,

commercial terms, price, delivery and project scope of supply.

. Supported the Nuclear Engineering Team to meet/exceed customer/market

expectations, while maximizing market/bookings opportunities, driving

derivative/new product introductions, maximizing OI and providing

support in meeting/exceeding company metrics.

. Generated and checked nuclear centrifugal pumps engineering analysis

reports, including ASME Code pressure boundary analysis, structural

and rotor dynamic analysis, failure analysis, stress analysis,

hydraulic analysis, all by applying mechanical design, heat transfer

and fluid mechanics principles

. Created and checked engineering design drawings prepared in CAD based

on ANSI Y14.5M Standards. Dispositioned NCRs, CARs, etc, as required.

Developed engineering bill of materials, engineering design

specifications, project specific procedures, assembly drawings and

materials of construction based on design criteria and in accordance

with customer requirements and department policies and procedures.

. Implemented accuracy and on time delivery of pump engineering projects

in order to maximize engineering on time delivery in support of

company profitability.

. Demonstrated operational excellence in engineering design, leveraging

toward commonality in BOM structuring, BOM accuracy, minimal

proliferation of P/N's, standardization of legacy P/N's, design

standardization, design for manufacturability. Drove towards a goal of

100% accuracy in BOM, tolerance stack-up, drawing accuracy, etc. in

the shortest cycle time possible.

. Supported an environment of continuous improvement, continually

striving for increased performance expectations throughout areas of

responsibilities. Generated over 30% of saving in engineering cycle

time.

. Supported operational excellence in Materials, Production and Quality

related functions. Driving data accuracy, process standardization,

accountability, process leaning, elimination of multiple/personal

databases to manage the business (i.e. continual drive toward one

database to manage the business), subsequent leveraging of resources,

cycle time reductions.

. Ensured Safety Standards & 6S practices are maintained at the highest

level possible and consistent with Corporate and BU Standards.

. Knowledgeable of Codes and Standards related to the markets/industries

(ASME Code, 10CFR50 Appendix B, N45.2, NQA-1, ISO 9001, JSME, ASTM,

JIS, 10CFR21, RCCM, and IAEA guidelines).
