Lutheran Health Systems was tenth largest not-for-profit Health Care System

in the US.

Infrastructure consisted of AS/400's, IBM Desktops, Cisco, 3Com, Nortel,

and Bay Networks routers, switches, and hubs. Novell, Mac, Windows, Citrix,

and Lotus Notes operating systems. We used Cerner Millennium, PeopleSoft,

and SunQuest. lOX (GPMS), HBOc, PCN, PMS for ERP, PSA, finance, scheduling,

customer billing, records, and materials management.

. Direct the complete IS operations of Lutheran Health Systems computer

facilities with budget authority, for California and Nevada. Made up of

three hospitals, five clinics, two long-term care facilities, ambulance

systems, and mobile care systems.

. Manage the directors, IS staff, Tech-champs, and contractors to complete

facility and regional projects. As Sr. Director conducted and prepared

feasibility studies; including estimates of costs, time, and resources;

prepare statistical reports, and complete cost/benefit analysis.

. Group leader for Information Systems, Performance Improvement, JCAHO,

HIPAA, and Y2K committees.

. Present reports and conduct planning sessions with directors, doctors,

hospital administrators, local, state, and federal leaders on the computing

needs for all Lutheran Healthcare facilities.

. Pioneered the first Electronic Patient Records systems (EPR), within the

Luther Healthcare system.

. Directed the daily operations of the computer facilities. Delegated

technicians' work assignments and assisted in solving/troubleshooting

difficult hardware and software problems.

. Designed, installed and maintained total network solutions using multiple

NT servers, IBM AS/400's, Digital VAX/VMS, DEC Alphas, HP9000/3000s, CRAY

2, and broadband Ethernet and ATM networks.

. Managed planning of software/hardware releases, network schematics, and

capacity, reliability, and stability planning.

. Designed and tested tele-presence using audio and video conferencing for

telemedicine and tele-classrooms using fiber optic (including alpha testing

multi-wavelength single fiber over 2500KM), wireless, cable modems, and

satellite technologies.

. Design and install MS SOL interface to PeopleSoft for financial and

student records.

. Supervised and instructed faculty and staff on computer

hardware/software, Intranet/Internet solutions including how to create web

pages and databases for Intranet/Internet. Fun!

. Negotiated the purchase with Microsoft Licensing of the first ever

university-wide completely nonrestrictive Microsoft product licensing (any

Microsoft product on any machine anytime for any staff at work and at

home), for University of Alaska. This is now used by most Universities in

the USA.

. Organized all of the Schools, and departments within the university

information systems. When I started they all had independent IT personal

and budgets with purchasing authority. By the end of 4 years I had one IT

office and 1 set of staff with a unified IT budget with budget authority.

Sharing costs saved the University close to a million over the first year I

was there.

CASCO fabricated and designed racecars in Alaska.

. Designed and project manager for building an unlimited classification

road race car we called Mutant. This automotive project consisted of

building a vehicle from the ground up: design build, frame, suspension,

engine, brakes, steering, electrical layout, body construction and paint.

. Designer and taskmaster of this project I initiated and completed this

project within a very tight six-week time frame.

. I saw to it that every contributing member if they were an employee,

volunteer, contractor, or vender stayed on task and on time.

. Mutant took first place overall 1994 Alaska Fur Rendezvous Race,

. Designed and built frame/suspension on first, second, and third place

cars in 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996...
