Research Experience: Synopsis of Master’s Thesis
sirA is a global regulator gene in Salmonella tphimurium. Determining the level of control of sirA is important for a complete understanding of the
genetic cascade. Project involved fusion of sirA gene with lux gene to create a bioreporter system (sirA-lux fusion) through a series of molecular
techniques which was then used to understand the expression of sirA under suspected factors. Statistical analysis revealed that transcription of sirA is
induced specifically in the presence of oxidative stress conditions.
