RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
1. Bioinformatics research experience: RNA sequence analysis for evolution
and phylogeny study (2008~present)
Keywords: sequence analysis, phylogenetic analysis, noncoding RNA, data
mining
I develop the pipeline for analyzing noncoding RNAs and constructing the
phylogenetic tree for the molecules based on their sequences and secondary
structures.
2. Cellular and molecular biology research experience
2.1 I studied Axon guidance of olfactory receptor neuron and antennal lobe
development in Drosophila by gene knockout, RNAi and other molecular
methods.
2.2 I carried out molecular physiological study on the effect of Estrogen
in male reproductive tract by realtime PCR.
2.3 I investigated the relationship between gene polymorphisms of Aryl
Hydrocarbon Receptor (AHR) and Estrogen Receptor (ER) and human
susceptibility to bladder cancer.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Trained as a teacher's college undergraduate student (1994-1998)
Teaching Assistant, Department of Cell and Developmental Biology,
University of Illinois, Urbana (2006~2007)
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
2006~2008 Chair of OCEF-UIUC I founded the student organization, OCEF-UIUC,
as a local branch of OCEF (Overseas China Education Foundation). OCEF is a
charity organization dedicated to promoting the education in rural areas of
China.
In 2008-2009, OCEF-UIUC is awarded University of Illinois TIS Outstanding
Organization Award because of our excellent work in promoting education in
China.
2009-2011, I am board member of OCEF, in charge of OCEF local branch
development and networking all over the world.
