Operations Superintendent/1st Sgt
Active TS clearance I have experience as an Operations Superintendent and manager of people and
resources. I managed over 122 personnel spanning seven different functional specialties on flight and
ground operations. This required me to have excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
In my role as Operations Superintendent I managed the squadron’s $29.6M flying hour program for
nine aircraft totaling more than 3,954 flying hours annually. As Ops Super I was the expert for
missions, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operations in the military organization. In
addition I was responsible for organizing, planning and managing daily flying operations and advising
unit leadership on the status of our capabilities and coordinating with the unit training staff to achieve
the training to fulfill our wartime commitments. I periodically analyzed the health of the unit with
quantitative/qualitative metrics to measure effectiveness/efficiency of local training operations and
planned and adjusted work operations to meet requirements to ensure mission ready aircrew training
objectives were met. I advised the commander and Ops officer orally and in writing and
clearly/concisely established scenarios ensuring that training was achieved with the highest technical
accuracy. As Ops Super I was responsible for being knowledgeable of Department of Transportation
System and AAC aerial port functions as well as knowledge of the organization, programs, missions,
and functions to develop the most comprehensive courses that met the needs of the directorate. I am
skilled in the ability to read, comprehend and use AFIs, DoD/DOT regulations/instructions and the
ability to recognize and deter events that can lead to aircraft departure delays and/or safety incidents
and prevent them. I worked with the aerial port to coordinate/establish load plans for hazardous
and/or explosive cargo and reviewed/approved compatibility for HAZMAT aboard transport aircraft. I
established working relationships with aerial port to train/certify personnel in HAZMAT/cargo build up
for deployment operations/exercises. Managing a transport aircraft unit has given me the
knowledge/ability to plan and organize material to provide adequate, clear and complete coverage of
the subject matter needed to provide training to personnel to the highest standards for all facets of
cargo movement. I am also experienced as a First Sergeant requiring a strong knowledge of the laws,
regulations and requirements to manage personnel and deal with personal problems as well as legal
issues. I regularly dealt with multiple agencies of the installation and community such as law
enforcement, local merchants, and Air Force legal. I provided leadership, mentoring, career
guidance/counseling to the unit and advised the commander on legal issues and corrective actions.
This required me to have the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and
with technical accuracy.
