Performs paralegal duties in support of the disbursements of disaster loan

proceeds and may assist attorney in this function.

Conducts loan closing with borrowers in the Area Office and/or in the

field. Advises borrowers on loan closing procedures, assists borrowers in

completing loan closing documents; counsels borrows on the terms and

conditions of loan authorization; explains pertinent legal and policy

matters concerning the disaster lending process; and assures that loan case

files are complete.

Recommends disbursements of loan proceeds and insures that

subsequent disbursements are made. Monitors the disbursement process to

ensure deadlines are met. Advises management of disbursement status.

Performs a legal review of the executed documents including notes,

guaranties, mortgages, tax forms, affidavits regarding property deeds of

trust, and ensures that they comply with the requirements set of the loan.

Determines legal sufficiency or the need for correction of the lending

documents, such as release of collateral, change or rescheduling of

payments, or substitution of collateral.

Conducts legal research on assigned legal issues and /or local legal

requirements at the direction of attorneys, utilizing appropriate legal

reference materials, computer assisted legal research tools, local law, and

title offices.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITON:

Knowledge of legal instruments and laws regarding the same.

Knowledge of real property recording systems and local practices relating

to the same.
