Senior Manager, Business Development - PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP [1992 to
2008]. Was responsible for planning and implementing proposal strategies to
define, target and capture new business opportunities, as well as retain
existing clients across the Assurance, Tax and Advisory practices. Managed
the complete proposal process from opportunity identification through
planning and production. Developed and implemented strategies to capture
new business and reduce the risk of reproposals. Key member of large refuse-
to-lose teams for major must-win opportunities. Often provided assistance
to major RTL opportunities across the country. Also served as
communications and marketing leader for the Southeast Region Assurance
practice.
Marketing Services and Proposal Director - Warren H. Suss Associates [1989
to 1992]. For this established marketing consultancy, provided Fortune 500
high-technology, telecommunications and systems integration firms with a
wide range of marketing services including strategic planning, market
research, proposal support, targeted to define and impact markets by
expanding existing and opening new sales opportunities. Served as proposal
manager for 12 major proposal efforts. These included systems for
telecommunications, information management, computer networks, and systems
integration. Designed and presented seminars on proposal management to
senior industry management and buyers at national conferences. Also wrote
trade journal columns and articles for prestigious national industry
publications such as CommWeek, DataPro, and Signal magazines.
Corporate Business Development and Proposal Manager - Analytics [1981 to
1988]. For this high-technology systems design, engineering and
manufacturing firm, planned, developed, and managed proposals to capture
new product and service opportunities and managed marketing communications
programs. Working with senior management and technical staff, developed
proposal strategies, schedules, budgets, priorities, resource allocation,
and costing approaches. While manager, Analytics won proposals to provide
customers with four major advanced products: advanced cellular
communications, artificial intelligence-driven diagnostics, banking
transaction encryption, and ocular sensing. Directed a full-service
proposal support organization and helped establish proposal support
organizations at other key operational sites in the U.S and abroad. Managed
over 20 major proposals and won over 30 percent of them. Negotiated teaming
arrangements with vendors and subcontractors and designed and implemented
the company's first automated qualification and experience database,
consolidating and maintaining information critical to proposal performance
throughout the company.
Marketing Communications/Proposal Manager - Sun Information Services, a
division of the Sun Company [1976 to 1981]. As manager, created and
directed a comprehensive marketing support organization to ensure that SIS'
diversified software information products and services were professionally
and informatively presented through sales proposals, advertising programs,
brochures, technical data white papers and catalog, product newsletters,
and trade shows. In addition, developed extensive user and training
documentation for internal users and customers. This position required
excellent writing and creative skills along with an understanding of the
sales process, SIS products and publishing from conceptualization through
customer support. Worked closely with national sales regions and technical
support teams to ensure that SIS' marketing communications and proposal
support programs were effective and timely in a highly competitive and
dynamic market. Developed three Neographic award-wining marketing brochures
and received recognition from the parent company for a major information
program for a Sun subsidiary that became the model for 12 other Sun
subsidiaries.
