OBJECTIVE Seeking a position to employ my expertise in numerical modeling of contaminant fate

and transport and hydrodynamics in surface and subsurface water bodies.

EXPERIENCE Postdoctoral Research Associate Spring 2010-present

Computational Science and Mathematics Division, Pacific Northwest National Labo-

ratory (PNNL), Richland, WA.

• Developing, implementing and validating high performance computational algo-

rithms to model transport phenomena in porous media with application to CO2

sequestration.

• Optimizing and integration of computational algorithms to simulate subsurface

biogeochemical processes with existing high performance models.

• Performing and interpreting numerical simulations in supercomputing clusters.

Research Assistant Fall 2005-Fall 2009

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Clarkson University, Potsdam,

NY.

• Developing and improving 3D numerical models to predict water quality, efflu-

ent/contaminated sediment fate and transport in coastal water bodies. I devel-

oped the following numerical models to simulate:

– Interaction, transport and fate of oil and sediments in coastal waters.

– Bubble breakup and coalescence in marine oil/gas blowouts.

– Fate and transport of oil leaks from sunken/broken ships in the ocean.

• Literature review, analysis and numerical representation of physico-chemical pro-

cesses, computer coding, data preparation for model inputs, results visualiza-

tion/interpretation in terms of plots and animations, and model validation.

Instructor-Fluid Mechanics Summer 2009

School of Engineering, Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY.

• Successfully completed lecturing and grading.

Teaching Assistant-Fluid Mechanics Spring 2009

School of Engineering, Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY.

• Conducted lab classes and helping sessions for undergraduates.

Site Engineer Fall 2003-Fall 2005

National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Sri Lanka.

Worked for a water supply project costing $ US 120 million to supply drinking water

to greater Colombo area, Sri Lanka.

Teaching Assistant Spring 2003-Fall 2003

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri

Lanka.

• Conducted design, lab, and field classes for undergraduates in Hydraulics, Envi-

ronmental, Structures, and Surveying.
