RESEARCH:

. Master's Thesis (in progress):

"The Effects of Load Orientation on the Rotordynamic

Coefficients of a 70%-Offset Three-Lobe Bearing"

o Tested a three-lobe bearing (0.45 preload, 0.7 offset) in seven

load orientations and reported the rotordynamic coefficients at

various load/speed configurations and excitation frequencies.

o Most concerned with how the load direction affected

stability/whirl frequency ratio.

o Data was compared to XLPresDm (Part of the XLTRC2 Rotordynamics

Suite) predictions and various past studies on the effects of

load orientation of multi-lobe bearings on rotor-bearing system

stability.

o Static data, including cold clearance and power losses, was also

analyzed for completeness.

bearing test rig.

o Primarily tasked with running predictions and collecting static

and dynamic data for various hydrodynamic bearings to satisfy

both academic and industrial interests.

o Hardware intensive. Responsibilities include constant

management and upkeep of delicate electrical, thermal, and

fluidic systems, as well as mechanical hardware.

o Constantly worked with vendors and sponsors to have bearings and

parts designed, drawn and manufactured

o Helped develop sound test matrices relevant to industry needs

o Produced various bearing data technical reports and

presentations

. United Space Alliance (USA), Undergraduate Co-op

Houston, TX

Spring 2009

Space Station (ISS) simulator, in charge of testing the

Electrical Power Systems (EPS), Structure and Mechanisms (S&M),

and Robotics subsystems

o Also helped with smaller projects including workplace technology

benchmarking, business process modeling using Appian Enterprise

o Was on the co-op tours and lectures committee, helping to

coordinate tours and lectures for co-ops and interns at the

Johnson Space Center.

Summer 2007
