Direct the truck and trailer maintenance program for a fleet of 250
city pick up and delivery trucks and trailers at 4 nationwide
terminals, as well as 75 cross country trailers. Direct the Los
Angeles truck shop doing maintenance and repair on city trucks,
tractors and trailers. Supervise eight mechanics and welders
performing these repairs. Interview, hire, and terminate mechanics.
Monitor and authorize emergency repairs to cross country trailers.
Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation and Highway
Patrol requirements pertaining to on road vehicles. Research prices
and purchase parts and supplies. Maintain a computerized inventory
system for the shop. Work with information technology department to
develop and maintain a computerized system for all repair records.
Research and advise the corporate office regarding new California
emission control regulations for road trucks and dock equipment.
Inspect and purchase good used road equipment. Monitor and authorize
the sales of unwanted road equipment. Direct the maintenance and
repair program for road and dock equipment at three out of state
terminals using outside vendors. Locate, research, and authorize
these vendors. Monitor and authorize high cost repairs. Monitor
repair invoices and adjust inappropriate invoices. Maintain all
repair records for these terminals. Conduct annual equipment
inspections at these terminals to ensure quality control of vendors.
Sound Truck Repair
Position: Owner/operator May
1987 to May 2000
Provide onsite maintenance and repair service to several local
trucking companies. Work from a service vehicle at the customer
location doing scheduled maintenance and needed repairs to trucks.
Maintain Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol required
record keeping for on road vehicles. Calculate and submit bids and
estimates to customers on large projects. Inspect equipment and
advise customers on disposal of vehicles beyond repair. Generate and
submit invoices for all repair work. Maintain accounts payable and
receivable. Maintain parts inventory. Make annual reports and
payments to California State Board of Equalization for state sales
tax. Provide emergency road service to a wide variety of nationwide
trucking companies.

Diagnose defects based upon driver complaints and make needed repairs
to fleet of over the road trucks including engine, transmission and
rear end overhauls. Perform all scheduled maintenance on trucks and
trailers. Also perform electrical and air brake trouble shooting and
repairs. Light fabrication and welding.
